I had the same setup as what you have posted OP. You have all the correct info here on it. I don’t think I have pics of it in my truck, but I will look. Seat will have to be all the way forward. I had it behind the passenger side seat because I was newly divorced at the time and no one was riding in the passenger seat.

while the truck works, it is not that big at all. Even with the current forward facing car seat, I have to keep it forward because she like to put her nasty shoes all over the back of the seat.

all that said, you are about to enter an incredibly exciting time in your life!! Congrats

Our other son is four and his forward facing booster seat is no problem except for feet placement on the Clazzio's :p

Get one of those back seat protectors, we have tons of salt, snow, sleet mix which gets nasty otherwise

My kiddo is 9 months, we have been using the Uppababy and love it. Fits perfectly in the middle seat. I did need to put a rolled up towel under it, near the back of the seat to get the angle correct. WHen i take the base out, it has made an indent at the back of the seat, don't know if it will come out or not after it's out for awhile.

they didn’t offer us a genetic test. This is our first so I’m very new to this. What was involved with that??

It will, our rear facing indented my seat and after sitting in the heat for a few months last year, it went away

Whatever he/she is, you're gonna love being a parent. It's as rewarding as it is exhausting. I was 100% sure i wanted a boy the 1st time, but after having a little girl, i couldn't imagine it any differently. Daddys little girl is definitely spoiled to shit lol

We did the genetic testing too. Basically they take a blood sample of your wife and look for y chromosome (because your wife only has x) if they find a y they know it's a boy. If not, it's not a guarantee it's a girl, but it's a good indication. It's also painless and risk free. Theres another test they can do that's more intrusive to know for sure.

I really appreciate all this, thank you!!! As I said I'm totally new to all this. I do care about safety but figure most models on the market will do the job in that category. The plan is definitely to buy new and I like the idea of one seat, multiple bases for pickup/drop off and overall convenience. I definitely do not expect my wife to lift it in and out, that's my job now :curls:

Still if I can get one on the side I think that's preferred. Also separately on an older thread someone was saying that the car seat hookups (or whatever you call them) are only on either side and they had to modify it to fit the middle, I thought that was strange but seems like many are using the middle without trouble now

Pretty much, so it really boils down to your preference on what you guys look for. Also consider removal of seat and cushions as a priority. They will spill, get crumbs, vomit, etc. Some are a royal PITA to remove others are easy

Yeah, exactly, and my truck is a manual so my wife never drives it, so in her car we put the base behind the passenger seat so it was easier for her to place it in

We have the Graco Quickconnect Snugride/Snuglock 35, snaps right into the stroller it comes with.

It actually fits in the back of my 1st gen xtra cab with the front seat almost all the way forward. Granted we rarely use my truck to transport our daughter but if I had to, it will work

Yes, in theory the latches are on the driver and passenger, but you can "borrow" the left latch from driver and right latch from passenger side and it works, its just when you have 2 seats to latch (and you plan to have one in the middle), that one latch will be double connected...or you can also use the seat belt connection for added safety

I had what I'm pretty sure was the older version of that seat for my two guys. No matter what, plan on putting it behind the passenger when rear facing. It's going to be tight, but like what was said in @Tacowin1013 's post, rear facing is the best for as long as possible. I think Sweeden has usually keeps kids rear facing until they're 4 or so, and have the lowest rate child vehicle related fatalities. It's something you'll get used to, though. Hopefully any passengers don't mind the seat being a few inches further up for a bit, but if they do, just remember (1) they didn't pay for your truck and (2) they won't be changing your diapers one day.
