@m3bassman mine did that right after I changed the fluid when I got the truck. I’m pretty sure I overfilled it a little and on my first off-road use afterwards caused it to heat up and spew out the breather.

did you recently change or add diff oil?

Maybe drive it around and see how hot the diff is getting, maybe compare it to the rear after being in 4wd. If it's getting hot it would cause the fluid to expand. The heat would be caused by a failing bearing or an issue with the gears.

What there a large elevation change going between KOH and home?

I wonder if the vent on the breather is stuck and if he went down in elevation to KOH it adjusted to that pressure and driving back home it pressurized and pushed some fluid out the breather tube or vent.

Modified an old FJ cruiser emblem and used two sided tape to keep it there.

Usually overfilling is the cause. I Dont think elevation change might be a factor since its not a pressurized system. when mine barfed fluid all over the place it was due to toyota overfilling it, I also called my buddy who ownes a gear shop and he said sometimes oil hits the breather hose creating a vacuum and sucks fluid out. Never a fun thing to deal with. if just check the fluid level and keep an eye on it.

Mine pukes out the breather all the time. Worried me initially but everything seems fine. Just keep an eye on it and don't worry about it too much. My theory is that some oil gets trapped above an air bubble (for some reason) in the tube, and then as the air expands/warms, it pushes the oil out.

I've thought about a catch can thingy on the line (I think @drr's done this), but in the end laziness and trips have taken priority...

Edit: fun time at Hammers? Pics?

Do you have a flex coupling in your exhaust somewhere? Just had mine apart and noticed how restrictive it is.

Replaced the rear proportioning valve today on my very slow rust repair / other projects on the truck that I have ripped apart for the current winter season. I had been contemplating what todo with this thing since I had the bed off and have been soaking it in pb blaster for quite a few weeks while working on other projects on the truck. I was successfully able to break the brake lines free without breaking them off (which is always nice) but the bolts holding the valve to the bracket did not budge. So I pulled the bracket which the proportioning valve goes on off and zipped the bolts off on the backside of the bracket, then cleaned and re-painted things before putting everything back together.

I do on the muffler side of the exhaust. I'm 3" and it's pretty far down line. Better than before. I used to merge into the oem exhaust flange

Cool... when I put it on the 1st time, I had it on the PS side of the tailgate.
Then I viewed where they were on the FJ's... left side, hence the move.
Post pics when you get yours on.
