UpTOP Alpha Ex on Leitner ACS?

I love the way these two systems look. I think they’re both at the top of the field. I’m wondering if it’s possible to mount an UpTOP Alpha Ex (the kind you’d install on a topper) on top of the more versatile Leitner ACS forged.
Has anyone tried this or seen it done? I’m really hoping they’re compatible. I think the combination would be really bad ass.

I tried that. They seem to compete and don’t have information on their comparability that they’re willing to share.
I might give up and go rhino rack because I definitely want the Leitner and I know those two are compatible. I just wish I could find something on the relationship between the AlphaEx and the ACS.

 

Im not familiar with the ACS mounting system but if it has rails like a topper I don’t see any reason this wouldn’t work?

 

That's a very logical and clear answer. I hand't thought about it like that. My idea is to use the Leitner ACS for the sake of the gear pods and mounts etc, then the Alpha Ex on top of it because I think it looks awesome and it will spread out the load when I have stuff up there that isn't already spread out itself. Plus the Alpha has the handles and the light mounts/cut-outs that I want for the back too. The two of them together, with the color matched Alpha will really make this project stand out. IMO

 

I think that would be an awesome look. If you have pictures of the ACS I can confirm or would be happy to help you brainstorm.

Mine is a 2020 Tacoma TRD OffRoad Long Bed. That will assist with looking at the proper one. I'm getting the forged ACS rack, one large gear pod, two small gear pods and three universal mounting racks. To start. And, if it works, the upTOP Alpha Ex for the rack or at least for the cab.

Not really sure about the thin-fin for the upTOP cab rack. Taking the interior lining of the cab out and disassembling OEM stuff doesn't come to me without a certain level of stress. I know i could figure it out but I already have so much going on that I don't want this to hold up install or produce trouble shooting if I can avoid it.. IDK. Nothing good is easy.

 

With the way the bars are slotted I don't see why this wouldn't work!!!

the Alpha is separate from the eX (as you know) and no longer requires the thinFIN. In fact the thinFIN is now OPTIONAL.

Is the thin-fun optional because installing the 7th rail is optional or is it optional because the overall clearance is high enough to clear it?

 

Is there a pelican box mount for the Alpha? I just went ahead and bought the Alpha (not the ex) and am curious about options for a long-gun pelican box.

we just mark them, drill 1/4" holes and use T nuts. 1 per corner

Did you ever finish this config with the Leitner and Uptop? I’m thinking of something similar but wanted to see if you have to use the crossbar for the install or can you just use the rail slots in the system without the load bars?

 

I did not put the alpha on the leitner. I do have an alpha on the cab of my truck but the leitner is a full height rack as it is. Adding onto that would have been even taller and catching even more wind isn’t good for the system or the truck. But I also got a 23Zero 270peregrine awning, FSR Evolution tent, and a couple bike racks. I also got a Delfast and a hitch rack for that. Went to Assateague two weekends ago and had a blast.

 

Another update. The icon stage 10 suspension is installed with method rims and Nito ridge grapplers. Truck drives like a cloud now fully loaded. I knew there would be a significant improvement but feeling it is really amazing.

 

do you happen to have a side shot showing how close to even the unloaded leitner is to even with the roofrack?

 

You can zoom in on this from last year. There are load bars under the tent that run front to back on top of the Leitner Rack.
