BUYER BEWARE: 3rd Gen Plug-N-Play Tailgate Bolt-N-Lock & Tailgate Bolt-N-Open

installed mine today. i was able to fit the wire through the gaps between the wire clips. seems to be plenty of space as i can still pull the wires though the gaps. hope this helps others on their install

 

Has anyone tried to wire the tailgate open actuator into their aftermarket alarm? My Fortin Evo One has a trunk output and an Auxillary feature. If I understand it. If I hold the lock button for half a second it functions the AUX. The trunk feature would probably need the key with the trunk release button. One or the other should work. I'm going to do more research on this.

I just wanted to send kind of an update with what has been going on in my life so that people are kind of aware. Not that I have to but just so that people know when I don’t respond, it might be that maybe something came up unexpectedly and to maybe just hold a second and I will for sure get back to you. I normally am known to reply and ship right away and if that doesn’t happen, something usually is happening with my family and that takes priority over everything. That or my actual job. So here is my update:

In light of the above, on December 18, 2019 my neighbor was in a tragic accident that ended his life on December 28, 2019 after the family had to make the tough decision that nobody ever wants to have to make. My sister unexpectedly had to be taken to the hospital the night of December 21, 2019. She had surgery the morning of December 22, 2019. My sister didn’t get released from the hospital until December 24, 2019. Christmas was on December 25, 2019 where I had to take my sister back to the hospital because she was in severe pain and was having some complications from her surgery. My grandma had heart surgery on December 31st and just was released to come home January 2, 2020. We had the service for my neighbor yesterday, January 4, 2020 and I am currently at my grandmothers taking care of her while also trying to catchup on everything that I am behind on work wise and hobby wise (which is this).

This week I have sent out 10 Tundra kits, 2 Extension Outlet Harnesses (that I haven’t even got around to releasing yet, but they are in stock now), two full set of Tacoma Folding Mirrors, 1 Full Set of 4Runner Folding Mirrors, 3 DIY Folding Mirror Kits, and I will be starting on the Tacoma Tailgate Lock and Tailgate Opener New Orders that have been placed. I the SR5 Folding Mirror Harnesses In Stock Now as well .

In the meantime, while all this has been going on, my vendor is getting ready to go on their 3 week holiday and I have to get orders in by the 8th so I have been trying to see what all I need before then. Ugh. I have also completed the Power Outlet Kit so that order has been placed. I have made changes to HUD. Im waiting for the second 3D sample of the Grab Handle. I have finally installed the Wi-Fi mirroring system paired with my Multi Cam System. I am getting it ready to ship to my vendors to get molds made for our mirrors and Harnesses. Unfortunately, for those that have the MESO Puddles, the cameras are on the inner. However, I may purchase if I can, just the outer section and get that mold made for you.

PS if someone has the 2020 outer section and wouldn’t mind sending it to me that would be amazing so I could get a mold made

UPDATE:

12 Kits ready for shipping on Monday!! 1 not pictured here was a Add-On Tailgate Opener Package. Then all orders should be caught up. I will be working hard to go through all 40 PMs today. I want to put a message out there that my a Work has me scheduled at a Conference from Monday to Thursday this coming week so there will be no orders that will ship from that time as I will be out of town.

 

Got mine in the mail today. Took about an 30 minutes to install. Hardest part is fishing through the grommet under the passenger floorboard. Otherwise super simple. Now I can rest easy while parked at work in the shady neighborhood I work in. Solid product. Thank you!

UPDATE:

Well I just got back and I am working on getting some kits done this weekend. I put together 40 3rd Gen Tacoma Tailgate Lock Kits today. Then I’m going to look at what orders I have and get them all shipped out. I did have to place an order for some more Actuators and some more Locktite. Therefore, I am waiting on those to arrive to be placed in the kits.

I had some request for some cable ties to be added to the kits. I never originally added them to the kits because I never thought they were a big deal for people to just get and plus, some people don’t like to use cable ties so I would leave that up to the owners. However, it seems to be a deciding factor that is coming into play sadly and since I have had a few request, so I decided to start adding them to the kits now. I used only 5 Cable Ties on my install, but I am including 10 with the Kit incase someone goes crazy with their Cable Ties. I also added the link to my install guide that I did with my truck to every kit on the disclosure label. That should answer a lot of questions from now on



Lastly, here’s a look at the New Integrated Tailgate Lock PNP Wire Harness that I soon will be shipping out with the kits. The wrap and tape on the ends that was on the Harness before was only temporary until I was able to show my Vendor what I wanted for all of my PNP Harnesses. It was all part of my conversion on going from the other vendor to my own personal vendor. I have now completed this Harness.

second - I’m not mod savvy (yet) but am really interested in the full tailgate mod for my 2016 sport. Should I wait till you’re done with your new developments or is the latest and greatest ready to go, or does it really matter for my “old” truck anyways?

I’ve been a long time lurker on this forum. I got KTJO’s tailgate lock a while back and installed it in my 2017 and works great. In turn, bought my dad the tailgate lock/opener for his 2020 for Christmas.

We installed it but were having issues with the opener part of the package. Lock part worked fine found out needed to get DSIM’s Arduino chip replaced. Following DSIM’s troubleshooting instructions. Which we swapped out, thank you DSIM.

The tailgate lock only unlocked once with no rubber plugs in. But it hasn’t worked since. We are using the stronger actuator that I ordered from KTJO as well. When the tailgate is down but manually locked, the latch opens. When the tailgate is up, you can hear it make noise but the tailgate does not drop open. We have tried unscrewing and retightening the tailgate latch in different positions but that has not worked.

I’m hoping maybe someone that has this package might be able to shed some insight that we may have missed. Any help will be much appreciated. Thank you very much in advance.

How do i order the tail gate lock actuator without reading a years worth of posts? Is there a website? A link in the first post would be great. Thanks
