No. That picture is from Defense Mine. The same section the @US Marine posted a pick of his CJ on. Defense washed out pretty bad a few years ago and you can see the difference in those two photo's.

The reference to Calico and Odessa/Doran was pointing out that things wash out. Hell, some of the Rubicon used to be paved. Times change and things stop getting maintained do to budget or general lack of caring. Those trails are some of the ones we now wheel. Coyote Flat is another one that had some pavement going up the switchbacks. If you look close you can still see some.

That’s some serious rock crawling. My poor long bed Tacoma wouldn’t stand a chance. Lol. Looks like a neat place to hike to.

There's a biker movie from the 60s called The Glory Stompers starring Dennis Hopper where they show Harley's riding up Surprise to Panamint City. Cheesy movie but I watched it to see the good stuff at the end.

Amazon has The Glory Stompers for $10. Dennis Hopper and DV scenery, I might need to pick that one up

Here's some very old pics , I believe maybe 26 plus years ago and are from my old Jeep club "San Diego 4 wheelers"

The red CJ5 is in Surprise Canyon I believe in between waterfalls 3 and 5 and the Green CJ7 is on the dry sluice on the Defense Mine trail

Not sure I'd pay that much. I think I watched the whole thing on YT.

You're killing me. That looks like one of the funner trails in the area.

Did you ever get on Isham Canyon when you where wheeling out in the Panamint? It's a good one.

How about you tell me your favorite currently legal trail. Then I put together a little trip and you ride in my rig. No walking needed.

We hiked up to the Defense mine our last trip to Death Valley in the fall. I saw the rocky sluice you are talking about. Cool mine and trail going up there. I wanted to drive further in than we did, but others in the group wanted to park and start hiking. I would have liked to keep driving up the trail so we had time to drive up to Lookout City, but there's always next time.

Well, Dusy 2020 is currently in the planning phase. Once we nail down the dates I'll should you a PM. It'll probably be June before we finally pick the dates. My wheeling buddies are rad but they're a non committal lot. lol

The best argument for keeping roads open for access. People with health issues who have difficulty getting there on their own.

Historical access is another one. Sadly, the enviro movement is better funded with better lawyers then the wheelers movement.

Also why horses/pack stock are still allowed in wilderness (while dogs aren’t). Your argument has precedence. And I totally agree with you.
