Hi there, the truck looks great. I have a 2000 Tacoma (one and only owner) and I am thinking of putting some larger tires on it, 16" or 17" and possibly a lift. What size wheels and tires are on yours and how much lift did you add? Also have you seen any impact in performance or mpg? I have not been able to find solid information as to what size wheels and tires will fit.... Thanks for any input!

My truck is still on stock suspension on 16 inch wheels. I think I tires are 265/70/r16. Might be 75. I have not seen any issues with my mpg but I also am not lifted at all. I went with wider wheels and it has made a HUGE improvement to both off-road and highway handling. I will eventually do a 2 inch lift but that’s a few months or so down the road.
There is a fully dedicated section to tires and wheels and loads of info about what can fit your truck. I spent hours and hours in there before I switched my tire/wheel set up.

Been running a rubber gasket since I did the 4x swap last year. Not one single problem.

Tightened up my belts since I replaced all of them. Got rid of a little noise I was hearing. I’m loving this truck. Has 422k miles now and runs perfect

1st fuel fill up today of roughly 17.55 gallons (was really pushing it this time to get to my fav royal dutch shell station on the other side of town)
this lubed locking mechanism assembly felt much better & buttery opening and closing smoothly after Nut-Z lube application,
its not just for tight nuts!

Test fitted some 38x12.50 boggers for shits and giggles :D looks like they actually would clear if the caster on the drivers side was as far forward as the passenger....good enough to ride around without too many 12 point turns anyway

It wouldn’t take too much! That’s why it never left the shop

Right! This tire was terrible. The tread was at about a 45 degree angle from side to side hahaha

Started the water pump / timing belt + valve covers on @siznarf 3rd Gen T4R today. Made good progress, most of the tear down for the water pump and timing belt is done, the throttle body is pulled and the intake plenum is ready to come off.

Ran in to problems with the damn hydraulic tensioner bolts (2nd time I've done this repair, second time there has been a problem with these bolts). My truck didn't want to give up the front bolt... @siznarf truck didn't want to give up the back bolt (was siezed and broke off) burned a coupke hours of daylight searching for a 1/4 inch extractor... but found one at Home Depot.

Will continue the festivities tomorrow

    Well, since last 2 weeks...
Bought truck, new windshield and blades, radiator flush w/ thermostat and top/bottom hose, broke grill, ripped out carpet, heck took out entire inside, repaired front driver’s seat floor bracket, cleaned alot, and pulled miles of aftermarket wires, old sound systems, and An outdated alarm. Just getting started.

UPDATE! I have pushed my project to “Yota Build” I’d link it here but have not sat down to sort the forum all out yet. It has this build in progress with pictures. I am happy to have anyone make suggestions. Hint, my wife is springing for the suspension, wheels and tires. Yeah!
