It's that way on all 3rd gen Tacoma trucks that I know of. Goes up about 6-8 inches along the sides and doors. Rougher towards the bottom.

Yes my 2nd Gen had it as well, just seems like it’s changing color. Like the rocker guard is bleeding through the paint ?

Then I guess I was wrong so my bad. I thought they all came with the protectant under the paint along the bottom. On mine you can even see the line if you look close. Kinda rough especially towards the very bottom. :notsure:

Mine has the protective plastic there but it doesn’t seem to have any orange tint to it at all. Maybe an orange peel roughness to it but the color is normal. It looks pretty much like yours.
I run a q tip along the edges after waxing, that line can hold the wax pretty well. FF2E17DD-E4A5-4991-9E9F-AB44ED9AF0C5.jpg

I have that but there is no orange underneath it. I'll take a picture tomorrow when it's light and post it.

The orange peel roughness is what I'm talking about. Sounds like the other person is having another issue.

Yep, definitely rough compared to the actual paint, but a smooth roughness if that makes sense.

Got it. I don’t mind this at all, I assume it’s going to be a pretty good protective layer against stone chips which I’ve managed to accumulate in other spots at only 7k.

I’ll give the truck a wash, and get a picture up tomorrow to show what I mean. I thought I seen a thread awhile back about it somewhere but I can’t find it.

It’s pretty noticeable I find on mine, sounds like a similar issue as I didn’t notice it before and Im always looking at the damn truck.

Be sure to let the rocker guard cure, apparently maybe Toyota doesn’t lol
