    @cruiserguy and @Empty_Lord

    This afternoon when I installed new O2 sensors on the 99 model 4.7L, I found a mystery plug next to the Left side O2 sensor plug.

    I though I had accidentally unplugged it. I'm beginning to think it has been unplugged all along. I'm not getting any codes with this being unplugged. My buddy brought over his fancy $1,400 SnapOn full diagnostic scanner and gave the truck a through shakedown. No codes or any problems could be found. I posted a question about this on the Cruiser forum and so far -- crickets. I've seen a mystery plug like this under the hood of the Tacoma.

    Do you guys know anything about the plug shown in this picture?

    Side note: Replacing original O2 sensors with 235,000 miles gives the old girl some new pep around town. I can feel the difference.

    Your AWD T case has 3 switches that use a tiny plug like that. See if your trucks knows when it's in high / n (AT Park) / low, and if the center diff confirms it locks

    Is this under the truck, near the transmission? Looks suspiciously like the plug for the reverse light switch.

    I believe it on the peppyness after the new sensor. Blows my mind to think that was likely the original sensor and still kicking at 250k or whatever you're at. I love it:cool:
    And that connector looks like a simple pos/neg only, like for a noise maker (horn for something) or light maker or something. You could probe it with a meter or even just the power probe thing to see if it's powered in certain key positions or I dunno. Prolly not used for your LX. Where is the plug at? I'll take a peek at my 100 series real quick for it

    Near the transmission on the driver side. The cable to it was connected via factory tape to the O2 sensor cable near the O2 sensor plug. I'll check to see if the reverse lights work. The other night when I backed it out of the driveway, I was missing reverse lights. This might be the explanation.

    they were useless in diagnosis
    all they could do was measure tread and set psi

    That's kind of what people do when they work at a tire shop. Not much else to diagnose with a tire unless it's flat. Any other issues that crop up with a tire are usually suspension problems

    i can assume that improper psi will lead to premature tire wear, and the tire shop techs should know a little something

    and fuel economy can suffer with lowish tires

    and i need suspension work more than likely
