That's cheap for a place where you live! My disability alone would pay for my entire living expense based on those figures lol

 

Actually reminded me of when I bought the 99 Land Cruiser. Prolly around 2010ish. The sales guy was fine didn't have to do much, I knew what I wanted and he caught on and just got me the keys and let me at it. The thing is pristine immaculate and low low miles, so he knows he's got me. We'd been looking for quite a few months.
We agree on price and I get to finance guy office and all is good, don't want anything we agreed on out door price. Finance guy was cool as shit and tells me, hey he tacked on some track number safety deal..... that's engraved into a window or something. Hell I dunno. But he says I'll tell sales guy you found that on the paperwork and were gonna if we didn't remove it.
People have been so helpful to me in my life with stuff like that, that I wouldn't have seen or known, etc. So I always always try to pay it forward just out of how much I'm indebted to karma

I know it's scary for a lot of people when dealing at a dealership.

It's why I always offer my advice when I can.

Though it does surprise me when a friend goes out and gets a car on their own; I don't have to be there for the entire experience but I'd like to know that I was able to help from letting someone get one in on them.

Well keep your spindles so you can get your hubs swapped out; helps that you have a lot of able and willing people that live around you.

 

A mortgage on a 3ish bedroom house outside city limits under $200k wouldn't be far from that figure either. And would probably have some land with it.

 

True but for now, it's all on the back burner.

 

Texas gets you a really nice house at that price.

In parts of CA such as Sanger, Clovis, Fresno to name a few, also get you a really nice house in the $250k range. I'm talking 3 or 4 bedroom at +1800sq/ft with a large yard.

In salinas? $650k average for a 1600sq/ft 3 bedroom home built in the 70s or 80s and a small yard front and back.

It's crazy expensive here for still being 20 minutes from the ocean, and still 45 minutes from the nearest major city (San Jose).

Exactly! I end up begging friends to let me help and for some reason they think I'd be annoyed or bugged with what they're looking at I think. I just want your deal to be okay and the car to have least surprises down the road possible. But yeah I hear that
