Just traded my 2015 Silverado with 140,000km for my first ever none GM/Chev truck. Tell me why won't regret this decision?
What's the best smoked aftermarket headlights?
What's the biggest tires I could fit with a 2" level?
Are Tacoma's still as reliable and what's some issues y'all have had?IMG_20200208_130151.jpg

    Long story short:
Reason I traded my chev was terrible customer service from both the dealerships and GM customer care.
Had valve train noise for about a year and multiple trips to the dealership before they agreed something was wrong and replaced the lifters. That didn't fix it. Noise continued. They basically said that's all they would do. Didn't change the cam. They did eventually change the VLOM.
Truck started losing oil pressure and slight knock in bottom end.
Took it back to them. Told me it's normal. Even though in the 5 years I owned it it had never done that.
They then told me it's possible injectors and wanted $4000 to change them all. Couldn't even tell me which injector was bad causing the noise they just said they wasn't sure so wanted to change them all.
I then took it to a independent mechanic. He said valve train, middle and bottom of engine.
Dealership still refused. Gm customer care took their side.
Low and behold, now I am here.

    Welcome to TW! :hattip:

There's a member on here with something like 160K miles on his 2017, so these trucks are definitely still reliable!

I traded my 08 Silverado for a 19 Tacoma no regrets. My Chevy was getting worn out but it never failed me.

besides it’s a Tacoma so if you decide you don’t like it you can always sell it without a big loss.

Whether you regret it depends on how well you vetted your purchase. Tacoma is reliable as ever, but tons of members on here bought the wrong vehicle for them.

I don't do any towing anymore. Mainly just going to be used to drive to work in northern Alberta. Run into some petty nasty conditions and the roads aren't the best. The only down side I can see is the room in the back door car seats with the little ones. But the wife is happy with it so far, so I am too.

Only issue I’ve had was with my 2000 x-tra cab. The frame rusted through and Toyota bought it back. I paid $13k for it in 2003 drove it for 7 years and they paid me $11,750 to buy it back. No mechanical issues with any of them.

Hi there. I've only had my Tacoma since October but it really does seem better than my old GMs. I have a '99 Silverado and recently sold a 2000 Tahoe. They were good enough but they sure got maintenance intensive when they got old. I'll bet you find that your Toyota ages better than a GM if you keep it long enough.

Nice! See that's how customers should be treat when they invest in a product!
Is it me or are these little V6 loud as fuck? I know they are direct injection and Port. But sounds like a diesel I'm already scared I got valve train noise worried because of my chev!

Pretty happy so far bro! Basically this. Don't need a big V8. But wanted something reliable after my last truck and that can handle some rough bad roads. I was gonna get the 4runner just because of the extra room. But got a little better deal with this so went with it. But ye I'm loving it so far.

Direct injection sounds like a diesel. Same concept. No worries :)

Oh ye I know that. My old truck had it too. Just this V6 sounds louder than my old V8.

It might be that the third gen is GDI gasoline-direct-injection and your's isn't. I don't know that for sure.
