I do have a question for the guys that are good with finances. I want to get a good first credit card. What do you guys use? What’s best for beginning? Last time I checked my score was 647 something like that. Just want something that’ll help

There is a place not too far from me that does that named Volvos Only. They don't have much of a Web presence. They have been in business for years. I found a link to it below.

There are a couple Yota only yards in Denver area as well. Pretty cool, I visited one with a gal I was dating there in Denver. She couldn't understand why it was easy to be there looking at stuff for more than 15 minutes, let alone 4 hours lol

Well, that score could mean a lot of things; both good and bad.

With that being said, you can't rely on a score alone.

What I've always told people is that if you want to get your first credit card, check with either the bank you bank with or a local credit union. They may be able to perform a soft pull as to not add an inquiry on your credit report.

If you want to be absolutely safe, you can go directly to your bank and apply for a secured credit card. This ensures your inquiry counts since you'll get a card for sure; the only stipulation is that your credit limit for that card will be based on the deposit you supply. This is a refundable deposit and is only needed in case you default on your card, the bank will have the money to cover said charges.

When I first started, I got an unsecured card through a credit union and bought only gas with it. I'd use it every week for fuel, but I'd also pay it off right away.

After enough usage, I was able to request a higher limit.

Keep this in mind; having a credit limit, whether it's 1,000 or 5,000 doesn't mean you need to use it in. In fact, when you accrue a balance that's at least 30% of your limit, it's considered 'credit abuse' and your score will begin to drop. Making a late payment will cause it to drop even faster. Unfortunately in this day and age, you need credit for a ton of things but the way I explained above is a great way to start and get you going.

I've always been a V8 guy all my life, but those ecoboosts are damn near scary!

Did I tell you about my big turbo Focus?

I wish I had taken videos of my dyno runs or datalog pulls; even more when I was in "Mexico" and embarrassing muscle cars or other guys that thought they were fast :anonymous:

If someone was indeed faster than the Focus, then out came the Corvette.

I’m friends with a girl at my bank and she told me not to get the one through them. It has a high interest rate. I plan on doing the same thing you did with gas and paying it right off. I’d use it for gas and food maybe. I don’t drive my trucks as much since I ride in a work truck to the jobs but yeah I see what you’re saying. People been telling me the discover it card is good

All credit cards have a high interest rate.

Those that claim 0% are only temporary offers for anywhere between 12 months to 18 months.

The other incentive is being able to get cash back, points, or miles, for using those cards.

If you pay your balance off before the next billing cycle though, you won't have to worry about that interest.

Biggest thing to look out as your first credit card goes, make sure you get one without an annual fee. Last thing you want is to pay exactly what you're using only to have your annual fee get added on there. You'll never be late since you're making a payment every time you've used your card, but that fee can accrue interest and unless you check your account balance, it'll just sit there and grow.

Speaking of Vettes.... You can get into a brand new 2020 Vette for under 50k? I understand that's the lowest model, but it's still full pedigree Vette. For some reason I thought they were like 80k to start.

I guess this dealer is the best pricing on them. Don't worry I never would. Just saying

Oh this reminds me, it's a good idea to open a checking/savings account with a credit union. Usually the 'friendliest' loans and credit cards and that stuff. I mean it's still a financial institution so be careful, but generally credit unions are solid.

    Yeah, fun stuff!

Was working in Mammoth doing precise leveling. 2 guys with 2m tall rods, and 1 with a tropod and leveling gun. Not the pew pew kind, but probably similar to whatnyou were talking about, looks like a scope on a swivel bracket.

You leap frog the rods, so the leveling gun is always in the middle, and one rod is stationary. The guy in the middle takes a level to each rod, then you move forwad. You start at one benchmark (usualy those brass disks), and work your way to the next one. Then when you get there, you go back. When you get back to the start point, since you were tracking yout change in elevation, it technically should be zero. It never is lol, but we got really damn close. Over a 1km+ line (2km total), we could pretty easiliy get less than 1/10mm difference. Seriously.

So yeah, we used guns n stuff, so pretty much the same, right?
