Installed my Power Acoustik 9" overhead monitor this weekend. This is in conjunction with a Pioneer Avic X920BT that I installed a few weeks ago. Install went smooth except I can't figure out the dome light circuit. I connected the trigger wire from the monitor to the blue wire from the dome light circuit and it won't work when it is set to come on with the door. I will either figure it out or mod the map lights to work with the door open. Anyway, I really like the monitor. Got it from Amazon for around $125. Picture isn't the best that I've seen but it's good enough for a 2 year old. Here are some crappy Blackberry pictures.

Added Note: The size of this is perfect. Not to small that you can't see it well, and not to big that I can't see out of the rear view mirror. When I look in the rear view, I can see about 1/2 of the bottom of the screen when it is flipped down. I never had heard of Power Acoustik much, but I figured for $125 it was worth a try. It feels really sturdy. It swivels, and it came with 3 covers (Grey, Black and Tan) so you can swap them out to match your interior.

I was going to put in a couple of headrest monitors, but the headrests are so small. Someone on here with a double cab got some headrests from a regular cab and then added the monitors. It looked really good but in the end, it would have cost more to go this route. I'm not looking for the wow factor when someone sees it. I just wanted for the little one to be able to watch some video when traveling long distance.

Love it, Love it! I have been thinking of adding headrest monitors to my system, but my 2 year olds long legs can kick the seat back and headrests. This is a good price so I think I'll go this route. I'll have to have mine installed though.

The price is good on this because it's just a monitor, right? The DVD player is in the HU. Typical overhead DVD/monitors are more like $300-$500

Yes, sorry, it is just a monitor. With the in dash DVD I didn't need a player. They make the same unit with a built in DVD in the same unit for $300.

Clean job dude...looks like it was installed at factory! And great idea for the kiddos.

Just wondering, but when you put in reverse does it show up on the monitor as well?

Installation was not hard at all. I took the mounting plate that came with the new monitor, centered it up where I wanted it, and traced around it with a sharpie. Then cut the headliner along the lines with a razor knife. The headliner is easy to cut. then drilled four holes in the mounting plate and bolted it to the cross bar in the ceiling. Ran wires for constant 12v, switched 12v, ground and video cable to the head unit. I wrapped all wiring connectors that were going to be in between the headliner and the ceiling in foam so I wouldn't have any rattles right above my head.

Yep, I figured out that the white wire is a constant 12v, and the white wire with the black tracer was constant ground. The blue only had ground when the door was open so I assumed if I wired that to the door trigger wire on the monitor it would work, but it didn't. I'll figure it out, it was late and I had already spent too much time on it, so I said to heck with it for now.

I had the same problem with mine. I found that dimmer wire and hooked it up the same way you did. I have just gotten used to not having a dome light and using the fronts when I need them. Yours looks to be perfect size. I had mine sitting for nearly 3 years and finally put it in back in July before a concert we tailgated and everything for. Pm me if you find a way to get the dome light working with the doors. Here's mine, it's a 12.1 inch no name brand I got for 100 bucks. It looks way better in person as this was at night with my crappy camera flash.

I don't have a backup camera installed yet, so I'm not sure if it would show the image on the overhead monitor or not. I kind of doubt it.
