You cannot special order / order from Toyota. Its an allocation process. Dealer will allocate a truck with the specs you are looking for, if it's not a usual allocation for that particular region than a exemption request is made. It is not built specifically to your specs from the factory, just allocated and was already planned to be built that way. Just like clarifying this misconception. Congrats on new truck!

Oh I know it's an allotment, it's more cool to say special order.

When I was in the dealership “ordering” my truck from the sales manager I asked him to explain the whole regional distributor concept ship to me. He smiled and told me they don’t work through a distributor. Their dealership is actually a franchise of Toyota so my truck will truly be ordered from the factory.

Have you ever heard of such a thing?

That's a load of sh*t. Its an allocation based system. If your specific specs don't match a build allocation typical for that region they will do a special request, but its still not dealer to factory or whatever crap he was feeding you.

Don’t know bud. I’m only repeating what he told me.

He definitely surprised me with that answer.

I've owned 11 of these trucks, 7 of them new, pretty familiar with the process, buddy is a fleet manager. Sales guys make up crap all the time, including managers, half of them don't even know the vehicles they are selling or the features, or how processes work, I would take everything with a grain of salt.

    Gotcha.

But I know one thing for sure!
I quoted six different dealers and he’s the only one that would deal with me.
A two hour drive saved me $2,500 so I’m a happy camper no matter how it gets built!

    :)

Exactly! Some dealers won't deal with special allocation requests, high volume dealers usually have no issues and willing to make a deal, since its all about volume rather than overall profit. I've drove 5 hours for my 2015 in 2014. Worth it for sure! Congrats and enjoy.

    Thanks!

Eleven weeks and counting! It’s taking everything I have to NOT start ordering wheels, tires, and suspension parts!

This was exactly my mindset. If it is worth it then go for it. @Martog and I have been waiting for our VBs for the longest and at the same time. I posted my price at the "What did you pay for 2020 tacoma" thread and I was basically labeled a liar on the very first post on page 22. I didn't want to start a war so I left it at that and never cared to look back at that thread. Just remember, work smarter and not harder. People lie, numbers don't ;).

Anyways, congrats to all you new VB owners and glad to see you all here. Looking forward to your future mods and posts here .

I looked back and saw your $5k off MSRP which isnt out of the norm, weird that people said so, I got $5.8k off my 19 back in Nov, last few trucks have always been 10-12% off MSRP, which is pretty attainable with some work. Eh, as with everything on here, just gotta take the useful stuff and leave the nonsense which there is alot of.

Yeah, I've seen some get even better deals and I'm truly happy they did. It's just my intentions were to help people get a better deal because that extra money can go to groceries or other mods for the taco.

No one likes feeling they missed out on a few thousand dollars, but no need to call people liars, oh well. Groceries!

I got a little over 5K off of mine, it was 2500 under invoice and the dealer stuck with it, wouldn't take my trade in for what i wanted but hey I'll sell that for way more than they were willing to give for it.

My VB was a allocation swap from CA to PA, swap was Corolla went to CA and Taco to PA, dealer was looking for my unit and CA called my dealer regarding Allocation swap, so taco came here dealer was looking for 2 weeks, so I guess I was lucky, ordered 10/07, build date 11/27, arrived at dealership 12/12, drove home 12/17, while at dealer, dealer was getting calls from all over the country, Texas, Florida, Alabama,Kanas,Kentucky, I love it, good luck with yours! I guess I should consider myself lucky.

I'm glad I bought last November. I was going to wait until the spring or possibly the fall. I haven't seen any Voodoo blue at dealers lately. Probally a high demand and only so many coming for 2020.
