How to close the tailgate while standing in the bed?

    If we are getting serious, you can try to put a ring on one of the tailgate screws on both sides. If they aren’t strong enough, the little bolts on the sides for the latches would work

    When you said bike earlier, is it a bicycle or motorcycle? Why don’t you secure either upright with handlebar straps BEFORE dealing with the rear wheel and tailgate?

    The sides of the tailgate. The cord would shut in there, but it wouldn’t pinch, there’s a gap. But those might be a stronger spot to put a little washer to loop your cord than the tailgate skin screws if they don’t do the trick.
