I would say most states don’t require safety inspections, but a lot of bigger cities on the mainland had some smog requirements or something like it.

I just got my windows tinted at 5% up front and 20% in the back so they look even. If I get pulled over for my tint I'm going to refer the cop to the 20 trucks driving by me with the ridiculous lifts and stance

I wouldn't go to Waikiki if you paid me money to. I absolutely hate that part of the island.

I have my windows at 5 and haven't gotten pulled over for it yet, but I try to drive around with my fronts down whenever I can. Pulling it soon for recon though and gonna throw on either 15 or 20 to make it less obvious

I bought a 20 and I’ll leave the island before I ever have to get a safety inspection thank God.

I hope there are gonna be some shops that are preferable to get safety checks with a modded tacoma.

most shops I’ve seen use safety as a referral for other work they see “wrong” with the vehicle and won’t pass safety without it. Don’t get me wrong the honest shops usually recommend work that is needed but most will squeeze in Unnecessary repairs.

One time, the shop said I needed new wiper blades. Of course they could sell me some for $60. Went to Napa, bought some top of the line ones for half that. Went back and got my sticker.

Totally false, safety checks are the easy money maker. Whether or not you pass or fail, they still get paid. And if they do find something that they can fail you for, it opens up a new potential job for them.

Doing shit like that is how you end up with a tint ticket for every window in violation. And every other thing they can find.

Not true. Safety check stations make a couple bucks on each safety check.

And they charge extra to bring out a tint meter... How long do your safety inspections take? I'm in and out in ten minutes tops.

So they make $3-$4 every 10 minutes, some charge $50-$60 in labor per hour. So they’re losing money doing safety checks.

Good thing I rarely go off post. I’m not too worried about it. If I get pulled over I guess the state of Hawaii will get more of my money to not fix their roads.
