I’m looking to coat my stock 17’ off road wheels black...unsure of whether to use either plasti-dip or another more permanent application. Has anyone use anything OTHER than dip?

I used industrial rust oleum from a rattle can before, worked fine. I did scuff up the wheels before coating.

Any decent quality rattle can will work. I’ve had good luck using a couple coats of self etching primer as a base.

Edit: I would also go with satin finish over matte.

I know you said matte black but wanted to make sure you have seen the vinyl that is available. At a minimum it will be an easy and painlessly reversible way to confirm you like the look.

Much appreciated on the input, ladies! Bearohs, I may have seen what you’re talking about, do you think those actually stay put? Would love to know more on a good site for those if they are worth it. Having a less permanent option is a great idea, especially if it’s a covering for the wheels to help them last for resale value. Thanks!

I don't have first hand experiemce but plenty on the site seem to be haappy with them. Just do a little searching on here and you'll find reviews and where to buy.
