Just got home from Blue Ridge. Got 6-8 inches of snow there. Didn't stop the taco from carrying 12 grown humans (6 in front and 6 in the bed) to the river for a polar plunge and help a van get back on the straight and narrow. IMG_20200208_105435.jpg

I appreciate it but from what I read, the third gen camper shells do not fit on the second gen. Thank you though!

We ended up getting about 3 3/4" of snow at our house.

Anyone in the metro use The Tint Guy? Has good reviews, but the one time I went in there to get a quote (didn't think to look online) the desk person just ignored me for thirty minutes.

More than that though, I'm trying to figure out what material tint to go with on their site.

I used them a couple years ago for the fronts. (Matched to the rears.). The heavyset guy was pleasant enough to deal with. They got it done pretty quick too... with an appointment.
I got either the Traditional or Carbon series. I simply asked for what’s going to look most like my factor rear tint in terms of color and whatever won’t fade. No need for anything more fancy/expensive...

Nice, that was my exact plan as well. What percent did it come out as? I think I read somewhere the back is 36% or so.

Also, I noticed a good bit of condensation in the truck yesterday after the snow then quick warmup. Hopefully it is just from a bit of snow melt in the mats, as it was all behind the seat clinging to the plastic bins/rear wall cover.

I can’t remember, and don’t quote me, but I’m pretty sure the the rear passenger windows are closer to 15%-18%. Heck the back glass might even be as low as 5%. Would need someone else to confirm my numbers...

If you match to rears it’s likely illegal but the chances of getting pulled over are very slim, unless you’re doing stupid shit in front of a cop he might use the tint as an excuse to pull you over.

I’ve had matching tint on all my cars for 15+ years and never been pulled over. *Knock on wood*

And If I see a cop and have time I’ll slide the moonroof shade open to let more light in the cab.

Ceramic tint will provide UV protection if thats of importance to you. I had I think 80% ceramic put over the factory tint on the rear windows, and I think around 30% ceramic on the front. Its a pretty dang close match with the fronts being slightly lighter.

If you have a moisture in back its possible your 3rd brake light is leaking at the seal. Fairly common issue on the earlier turd gens. What you're describing sounds exactly the way mine was before I had it replaced by the dealer. Your moisture may very well be completely unrelated though.

There are too many quality window tint places to be wasting your time returning to a place that ignored you for 30 mins. I don't care how good their review are online.

When I bought my Cobra 12 years ago, I owned it for a week and didn't realize the tinted license plate cover was illegal. Got pulled over for that then he checked my tint and got a ticket for that too....
Wasn't speeding for anything. Just got pulled over for those things. Some cops are just bored some times.

Yeah, I guess I never got pulled over for the tint that came on my Elky. I never had it measured, but it was stupid dark. Of bigger importance was the reduced nighttime visibility, and my eyesight isn't anywhere as good as it was when I was 16.

I've been checking the headliner after each rain for that very issue, but I'm hoping it really was fixed in the TSB before my build date. There was still water in the mats when I checked yesterday, and also condensation around the rear door seal, so I'm hoping it was strictly weather related and not leak related.

    Not an unfair point.

Is ceramic similar to or something that provides polarized?

I'm not a tint person, actually pulled tint off my new truck, but polarized windshield tint is amazing for those who don't like wearing sunglasses.

Possibly. I don't know the science. Just was told once upon a time that the ceramic variety filters out the UV rays. Could be complete BS.

All my rigs are purpose built. From crawling to camping. I also enjoy a nice stock truck for what that’s worth. Toyota’s are the jam!
Yup the ceramic most def blocks the UV. I have rented more trucks than I can count. A friend of mine owns a tent place and he showed me the difference with two of his customers cars in the lot.
You most def tell the difference, I have gone with Ceramic since. However, I always amply ceramic to all the windows, except the front.
    Probably should do the front
