Thanks. I was thinking the smaller tires would look funny with a high clearance rear/front. Looks good.

 

Yeah it didn't look bad at all, until you spend time on TW looking at everybody with 33s or bigger! Now my 35s look small to me... haha

How do you like the duratracs?

 

Honestly, they get a lot of flak, but I've never had a problem with them. They are amazing in the snow, decent on the street, and I've never had a flat even though I wheel them in mud and rocks and go fast offroad.

They aren't a mud tire, and do pack up in mud, but I've really liked them so far. I will be changing it up soon though because I'm going to 37s or 40s soon. Still haven't decided

 

Im mainly worried about them being too loud after a few thousand miles. I do drive on the pavement often

 

My truck is pretty loud to begin with, but I never really noticed the tires too much. Honestly road noise has never really bothered me, coming from driving a lot of machinery and semis, so maybe I'm not the best one to ask

Thanks man! @81Trekker & JD are killing it with all the sick new products they are putting out, and we just get to enjoy the fruits of their labour and ingenuity. I just got my truck all stripped down tonight ready to get all the goodness installed up front over the weekend! Super pumped to get it all done. My front end was roached!

My truck has been up on the lift for a couple days now and I've been working away on the front end with the help of a few friends.

JD Fabrication LCA relocation kit, 934 cv's and +2.25 long travel getting installed, along with a new steering rack.

First was removing everything. I was able to remove the rack without cutting the bolt that everybody talks about, but if I were to ever do it again, I would definitely just cut it. I'll be putting mine back in upside down though, so no worries.

Then cut off all the LCA mounts and grind it all smooth.



Then came the discovery that my rear frame cross member is literally paper thin and nearly impossible to weld to....



I ended up spending a bunch of time filling in all of the holes, and then plating over them.



Then I welded out the sub frame kit. I'm not a welder by any means, but I'm learning and glad for more experience. I have a few good beads, and a few less good, but I don't think it's going to fall off!



Also got the spindle gussets with double sheer heimed steering all done



And one of the things I was a bit stressed about, was getting the outer CV joints off of my stock axles. Everything I've read said to cut the axle off super close to the star, and then completely disassemble the joint, then press the axle out of the star with a 20 tonne press to sheer the hidden c-clip.

But instead I found a random thread where I guy recommended just hanging the axle in a vice and pounding on the star with a brass hammer while holding the outer CV shaft out of the way.

I elected to go that route, and the both came off without too much drama! Was very happy to get that out of the way and build up the new 934 axle assemblies. I hate dealing with cv's and how greasy everything gets.



We did get a few other things done as well and got everything painted with a couple coats. Pretty much just have to bolt everything on and bleed steering/brakes tomorrow!
