Stiffeners for the rack. I think they attach to the crossbars, one at each corner maybe?

Anyone know how thick the spacers are for the mounting? I got a setup second hand for double cab, but he couldnt find the spacers. Ill just make some at work and its not a real issue to figure out the measurement just figured if someone knows the exact measurement. 7/8"? 1"?

    Thanks in advance

So I looked and I saw that people said they have hooked hammocks to their racks before with no issues but has anyone done two hammocks? I got a buddy who just got a Wrangler and we realized we could hook them to his roll bar easily and potentially my roof rack. We camp in some areas that tend to lack great tree setups so we are just thinking of alternative options.

Personally I wouldn’t try it. I’ve seen a prinsu buckle under the weight of a hammock. They aren’t designed to hold weight on the sides like how you would attach a hammock. It may work but it could also ruin the rack.

If you’re pulling from the side, then just mount it right where the foot is. This will prevent any side load from bending anything. Don’t connect it at the front or back pulling sideways if those points are unsupported.

If you look at the rack from the top you’ll see you have a rectangle with no triangulation. So if you pull sideways on one of those corners it will turn it into a parallelogram. Someone did just that and bent their side rails on here.

Yeah I saw that thread. That looked like a lot of poor positioning. May just get a bedrack like I have on my 96 and hook to that like we do now.

That’s what I would do. I personally wouldn’t risk breaking my rack lol

Yeah the last thing I need is to destroy a $600+ rack. Too bad the bed on the third gen is 2" narrower or I would just use my old bedrack.

Not if you're a fat ass like me, you ain't doin' two.

They make devices that go into a receiver that will hold a hammock.

    Not cheap but.........

    https://www.amazon.com/Arcturus-Ham...ds=hitch+hammock+stand&qid=1582444235&sr=8-13

Wouldn't be hard to make one if you're the crafty type.

I have seen those. I am picking up a for my kayaks. I've seen people use them for hammock points as well so may give that a shot. Combined we would be around 340 lbs which is a good chunk to be pulling on the rack. I also plan to get a bedrack and that would easily take the weight

Well, if you can kill two birds with one stone, and that cheap, I wouldn't even think about using anything else. I would also want my rope tie points to be lower to the ground for any hammock. I'm willing to bet that the D rings in the bed near the tailgate would work too. Or the two closer to the cab, or even the cleats in the bed rail.
