my dad was a race car driver. i grew up man-handling all manner of stick shifts in all manner of conditions, all my life. i'm pretty sure i am a better driver than most y'all. i suspect i demand more out of my car than most. that must be it. :)

i have restored more sports cars from the grave from the ground up than most people have owned normal cars. MGA, MGBs, spitfires, tr7s, datsuns, porches, mr2s, celica gts, bmw m3's, rx7s, the list is long...

Total waste of time and money. If you want to stay with Tacoma engines then just put supercharger on the 3RZ 4 banger. If you are going to take the time to swap a motor, transmission, ecu, wiring harness, and do a bunch of cutting and fab work just put a V8 in the thing.Swapping out the I4 for a V6 just doesn't even make sense, be more cost effective to just buy a truck with a V6 then to do all that work

anyhow i AM going to buy the V6. it has nice paint.

Then you can supercharger it and the truck will be able to handle that power without any mods

I don't think most aftermarket superchargers or turbos are easy to keep running smoothly. Unless you pay a fortune to buy them, and a lot to keep them maintained. This car is going to be a daily driver.

Don’t know if this has been answered but the transmission are not the same. All four cylinders have the W59 as a manual transmission. The v6 uses the R150 or R150F.

My truck is a daily driver with over 600k miles on the supercharger, once they are tuned there is nothing
much to do besides oil changes at 30k and a rebuild at 100k or 150k depending if you run a smaller pulley

You gotta have more than just the engine, and you will have hours upon hours of work and you could just buy a V8 if you are wanting to do all that and actually have a lot of power.Or you could just search the southern states and find a V6 truck for way cheaper than $12000.But you seem like a complete genius so I'm sure you'll figure it out and the V6 swap will have you just flying down the roads like a sports car

Put a Tacoma cab and bed on a chevy drivetrain

Do a Minor $25,000.00 build on the engine upgrade parts as they break.

Should be able to get to the ski areas at a Speed you want.

a dropped one and a high one
    3rz best r and z combined.

pro tip, the 3rz/2rz are an excellent family of engines, chain driven, efficient, non interference, gas sippers.

I stand behind them. There never has been a time in either trucks where I felt like I needed more power.

From someone who has done this swap: don’t! Buy the 3rz 4cylinder and turbo it. They are incredible engines that can take a decent amount of boost in stock configuration.

You're not going to be able to do that with a V6 either, lol. The 3.4L has a whopping 190 HP from the factory. Less with age, lol.

Have you considered throwing a turbo and a tune at the 4cyl? There are plenty of people that have gotten more power out of the 4cyl than a N/A v6. The 4cyls like forced air.

If you're going to go through the trouble of a motor swap, there are better options than a 3.4L.

If you're going to do a swap.. Might as well do an LS swap. There have been folks on here that have done it, so perhaps you can do it.

An LS v8 on these light trucks is something that I think would be amazing to drive.

Where can I find a turbo kit for the 4 cylinder? I’m reading the thread because I’m thinking about doing a swap but if I can get as much hp as the v6 without ripping my truck apart I’d love to go that route
