2018 32k. Just the sonar recall. Oil changes and tire rotations. The crawl control isn’t as nice as on the 4 runner, may try another dealer to get the lowest speed setting looked at, but I really don't use it much anymore..

80,000 nothing major. Replaced battery, CPS recall done before it failed, Diff whine TSB done (helped a tiny bit), third brake light leak fixed under warranty. Oh and that time I T-boned a deer and had to replace the entire "pedestrian crumple zone" to the tune of $9,000. Got a TRD Pro grill out of the deal. Insurance! Woohoo!!!

I would back this with everything I've got. I remember an episode of Adam Ruins Everything about how dealerships work with the government to essentially fuck people over. Very interesting.

You don't have to take it back to the dealer. I've never paid a dealer to do any work on any vehicle I've ever owned. After I buy my vehicles the only time they see them is for stuff they are paying for. It isn't hard to save 1/2 on any repairs from a trusted independent mechanic. Plus when you take them back to the dealer they try hard to talk you into unnecessary work. Even the stuff in the owners manual can either not be done, or done on a much longer schedule. Those are written to get people back into the dealership. And they try to scare you into thinking the work has to be done, and they have to do it or you void the warranty.

this damn truck better last at least 250k miles with just oil changes , and blowing off the dust from the air filter every 100k. Nothing else ! If these Toyota’s are supposedly good enough for rebels all over the globe then surly my trips to the desert and taco bell shouldn’t pose any problems.

The 2009 ford ranger we sold for the taco , had 235,000 miles on the 4 cyl engine. We changed the spark plus once , alternator once, battery once, and we had the ATF flushed and refilled the week before we sold it . The truck started to shift funny and pop into neutral randomly , so we should NOT have had that done (or fill it up properly and not be a dumb O)

19 SR 16k miles... rear diff replaced at 963 miles, low oil pressure/check engine light(no issue found after towed to dealer), passenger seat creaked/squeaked and they replaced the seat back cushion, TSS Radar Sensor under recall replaced, TSS system turns itself off, transmission acts strange but was told TSB doesn’t cover my truck.

Agreed.. never going back to the dealer again. The service dept is another part of their money making machine and why wouldn’t they always push you to do things you don’t need to. Or even the question, do they even care about your truck and the work they do?

    I worked at a Toyota
Dealer, I’ll Honestly say the service you get has a lot to do with the service advisor you get. Even as an employee, I’d notice who really cared about taking care of customers and who was too lazy to send paper work to Toyota, for warranty claims to save people money.

find a great advisor and they’ll help you out, crappy advisors will say “ there is nothing we can do.”

my guy always listened to my issues and would submit the claim to corporate Toyota as i stated it. Never had issues with him, he even check the techs to make sure they fixed it right.

Then whats the point of a warranty or even buying a new car for that matter?

I think his point was that he will only take it back to the dealer for things that they would pay for, like repairs under warranty, etc

Wringing your hands there a bit Mr. Kitty?

Sucks that you couldn't make a link between a popular mod and something "super scary".

    Lol.

I'm a gen 2, just popping in to say that when I hit 66k miles my power steering rack started leaking badly. Ended up replacing that on my own. But I wouldn't be surprised if more people see this, common problem across several brands. Manufacturers just sourcing mediocre PS racks I guess.

I have 60K on my 16 OR. Been the least reliable vehicle I have ever owned honestly. You guys that have never had issues on 16-17's I am calling BS. I bet your truck has many of the issues mine has but either you dont look for the problem and or your repair shop turns a blind eye to the issues.

-timing chain cover reseal due to oil leak
-front differential & left side cv axle replaced due to grinding noise
-climate control unit replaced due to passenger side temp knob hard to turn
-hood glued back together as the bracing separated
-rust repair in driver side door jam
-2 software updates for transmission shifting concerns, still flairs at times when upshifting.
-TSB repair for rear differential howl
-p/s pump replacement due to noise
    -TSB repair for HPFP chirping
-Blind Spot sensors replaced due to corrosion/faults in system
-Audio unit update due to rebooting constantly
-Front body mounts replaced due to squeaking sounds over bumps.
