2011 DC fronts have 6x9s but crutchfield says these won't fit

What do you think of those Kenwood components?

I put the mid/tweeter units in the dash of my 3rd gen, but I've had to apply a lot of filtering to smooth them out.

 

Yeah, I just want decent sound. When I upgraded to my head unit it already sounded way better even with the stock speakers.

I have a 2 year old and a family so blaring my speakers is just not in the cards anymore.

The sound quality from the Kenwoods is perfect for me and the Sony headunit lights them up well. The Kenwood KFC XP6903C design (6x9 woofer, 2 3/4 mid range with filter) makes for easy install, quality sound and far exceeds the OEM speakers.
I thought about the KFC XP6903C because of the 3 1/2 two way mid range but availability in Canada for in store pick up wasn't an option (I wanted to see them before my purchase).
Trust you got them working well and are happy with the sound quality.

Not many people are aware of this Kenwood option of good quality speakers with easy install for our Tacomas.

 

For the most part yes, but with some recordings the high-highs can still be harsh, and I'm not convinced the dash location isn't to blame.

You made a good purchase on speakers and a affordable price. They will improve your sound greatly compared to OEM.

You now have the option when driving alone to turn it up and enjoy.

Treasure your 2 year old little bundle of joy because they grow up fast. My boys are 25(studying for law enforcement), 29(newlywed) and I still cherish their early years. We are blessed through them.

Interesting on the highs. I would have thought the little crossover would help with that. I haven't experienced the 3rd gen sound system for a comparison.

 

Nah, the supplied crossover is just a high-pass filter, or "bass blocker".

I found they also needed a low-pass filter to help reduce some excess high frequency energy, but the biggest improvement came from adding a narrow-band notch filter to tame the spike in output right at 3300Hz.

Still, though, thinking a door location for the tweeters like the 2nd gen would've been better.
