Anemic I-Pod Tone

just got a new 2011 Tacoma with the "basic stock" stereo system in it. It has an MP3 jack so I can plug in my I-pod. I was happy about this until I plugged it in. The volume and tone is about half as good as the regular radio or CD player, which as you probably know is not great. I'm an old buzzard, and don't need bass and volume that sets off car alarms and drowns out passing Harleys with straight pipes. I really don't want to spring for a new stereo and don't want to mess with a lot of re-wiring.

I realize this might be a dumb question, but is there any simple way I can get my I-pod to sound better, short of putting on headphones while I'm driving?

It's cheap but actually works pretty well, I like it.

 

Looks interesting, thanks for the heads up. Do you notice a dramatic increase when using it through your car stereo? Have a Scion and get the same results, though not as bad as the Tacoma.

I wouldn't say "dramatic" but it is noticable. It won't give you deep, booming bass but it is an improvement.

 

Mine IPOD works very well with my radio system. Just make sure your volume is at max on your IPOD. Tinker with the IPOD and make sure all the settings for sound are what you want. My volume is usually around 25 at the level that I listen to.

Upgrade to. A real stereo

 

Couple things:

In iTunes select all songs at once, right click hit get info, crank the volume up all the way

Secondly turn your iPod volume up

The first one will usually do the trick, and set all your song volumes to the same level.

I remember seeing someone post something about making sure the iPod's EQ settings are turned off, but could have been a different subject

 

Unfortunately, my lack of tech knowledge means that this could be written in Klingon as far as I'm concerned.

I will, however, save it for when younger family members return on school break.

Ok it is real easy.

Go into iTunes and hit all albums, this will list all your songs below. Then click on the top song, right click and hit select all. Once all songs are highlighted right click on them again and hit "get info". It will pull up a box, on the top of that box there are 4 or 5 tabs, click the one that says options. In that tab you will see "volume adjustment" move it all the way to the right. It might say do you want to change for all songs....say yes. Re synch your iPod and voila!
