Thanks Rick, I have hit like 4 threads now and none of them unequivocally state "no".

FYI: 4Runner ones don’t work either (I bought a set of 4Runner wheels with tpms included. They could not pair to the third gen taco)

I've been told it doesn't work.

Why it doesn't work... nobody can tell me

If they are both 315mh signals, I would think that they should work

But if the data that the signals are carrying are incompatible, they simply won't work

    Sorry, I'm no help

Did you just hit the Learn button or try a programmer?

    Me too.

    I agree.
    No, you're a huge help!

Well, what about the use of a Autel Device that reads the current signal codes from the TPMS and then after plugging it into the OBDII port, transfer those codes to the trucks ECM?

Part of the problem may be that in '18 they went to a 7 digit ID on the sensors. I tried 6 digit '16 4Runner sensors with no joy.

Actually I did try that, but after I had a second set of compatible ones because I thought they would just pair up right away.

With the 4Runner wheels I took it to the dealership cause it was due for a rotation anyways (and would only charge for a half hour of labor when I made the appointment.)

They threw on the 4runner wheels but they wouldn’t pair so they had to break down both sets of wheels and take out the taco tpms and put them into the runner wheels.

Anyways like a genius that’s when I decided to do research, so here are the 4Runner tpms:

And these are the ones for Tacoma Alloy Wheels ONLY (Steel wheel tpms are different):

These work well and have them in my second set of wheels. Makes it super easy to swap with the seasons. Also you still need to get each set paired to the truck. I just go to discount tire and they do it in 5 minutes, but it takes about a day for the truck to see them.

    tl;dr
Dealership said 4Runner uses PMV-107J TPMS and are NOT compatible with 3rd gen taco. Must use PMV-C015 TPMS instead. Go to discount tire to pair tpms after swapping sets.

No you can’t just push the tpms reset button when you swap sets of tpms.

    posts are better with pictures
