any chance the resi mounts are on incorrect? Have been debating if the resi mount goes below the included spacer or smashed between the spacer and the frame. If I mount them below it looks like it wont come into contact with anything

I put them closest to the frame. I think the holes are made to only fit one way. I’m scrolling through previous posts and it looks like most people just clamp it lower than the little slots on the bracket and lower on the reservoir.

First pic frame, resi mount, spacer

second pic frame, spacer, resi mount.
I see what your saying as the hole appears to fit the plastic plug better but the clearance is better in the second pic

I figured he had the vertical mounts. I thought they didn’t do horizontal mounts anymore?

Mine have about 1/4” clearance but I pushed them down and have the mount as far back in the slot as possible, still mounted on the frame side. No squeaks on mine.

Bout time you got some quality suspension on that ride of yours. You'll feel a difference. everyone's been whining the past few pages about travel numbers on an OEM replacement shock. For stock geometry, this is still going to perform way better than 5100s.

That don’t make no sense! Will your fitting be pointed in the right direction?

Do you have a bumper? I’m debating dropping down to 650lb coils next rebuild with internal spring upgrade (purchased mine late 2017). 700lb seems to be a tad stiff even after 12k miles and this

I’ve got a bumper, winch, full set of steel skids and sliders. I just went off of the recommendations to get a 700lb spring.

The hose and fittings are oriented for a horizontal position. I believe. The fitting at the reservoir is inline with the reservoir. Yours looks like it has twist to the side.
I thought I read somewhere that they switched and that is how you know that the shock has the top out spring. I dunno and can’t find where I read that. I thought the horizontal was the new way and that the horizontal res shocks have the top out spring thing in them. Nobody quote me on that please!

I think your right, Im sorta bummed about it if mine dont have the top out control. I really wanted that feature with my shocks as I hate that jarring hit that comes through the dash when you hit the surprise drop or hole. I had inquired about it with Headstrong back in November and was told that all recent orders have that feature. I find it interesting that I took delivery after you and have a different style. Wonder what some of the other group buy guys are getting?

Not sure what you mean? I was part of group buy at the end stages of it. Got them around mid January

About the top out control? maybe My term for it is wrong but the way I understand it is that there is an internal spring that when the shock is fully extended prevents the harsh thud. My bilstein 5100s do it occasionally in the right setting. Its pretty harsh and feels like its coming through the dash when it happens. makes my wife yelp. (easy to do) . Anyways I was excited about the feature as I thought it would make things more comfortable for her and maybe, just maybe justify the cost of these babies.
I am going to laugh about it. Thats all I can do. I have a way with things that whenever I order them through the internet I either get the wrong ones or it comes defective. It's just my luck that I have had for sometime now. Recently bought some skids from a well liked vender. The front skid came with an incorrectly sized stand and would not work on the truck. The Warn winch that I bought about the same time as these shocks came with a defective wireless remote. See it is just my luck and I choose to laugh about it.

Hahaha. Someone listened to my rambling. I feel so much better now. LOL. You should hopefully not feel the top out like a bili 5100! You obviously have a much nicer setup then that. You prob have the top out control built into it.

a lotta money spent, lotta scars made
After I put my suspension in..the rear was sitting over 2", so when I had my alignment done, I had the mechanic adjust the coil overs in the front to try and level it out...he had such a hard time adjusting the driver, he talked me out of doing the passenger, now my truck sits about an 1" higher on the driver....Im looking for a spanner wrench to do it myself, I can't get it twisted enough with the center punch. Called ads and their spanner wrench is on back order, is there another spanner wrench that would work with it. Im looking for one that actually fits nicely in the holes n not tear it up like the mechanic did.
