Hi I am completely new to trucks and I just recently purchased a new 2020 TRD Sport with an access cab and a manual transmission. I want to begin to upgrade it with more improved off road modifications such as softer suspension, a minor lift, improved skid plate and bumper, lights, winch, and more. Which mods should be prioritized first? And I also appreciate any company recommendations for affordable and quality parts.

    Thank you.

Well a lift and softer suspension can be both done at the same time. So you might as well get two birds stoned at once

The best advise I have heard from people here is drive the truck and then decide what you need. Armour is important though so sliders and skids are something to consider. Tires are also huge, stock Sport tires are not offroading tires.

Edit: and welcome to the forum:hattip:

    In this order
    tires (lt d loads)
    skid plate
    sliders
    winch
suspension to restore factory height thus avoiding vibrations, premature wear, bearing failure, etc.

Do whatever you would normally do and adjust as needed

I’d agree with driving it first to see what kind of areas you’ll end up in and what you need. If you want to get into off roading, find a group to go with. You will not only get to see what others have and how it handles, you’ll also save tons of $ by making friends with the experience to help and teach you how to do the installs yourself.

Also not a proponent of off roading or hitting back country type areas alone. As in solo vehicle, even if you have a buddy in the cab.

First thing to do is drive it stock for six months in all conditions, inxluding off road. The mods and order of the mods will magically appear to you as time goes on.

You would lose the super useful MT hill start assist you get on the TRD Sport if you do that. It even works without pressing the clutch which is really nice if you live in a hilly area!

Welcome Aboard! I did wheels, Tires and Bilstein shocks within the first 3 months. No lift for me though.
