Thank you for clarification and appreciate the quick response. I like the innovative thought on the dimples up or down idea. One suggestion, when you do get the option for pre-drilling it should be made clear to customer that they will be installing the filler plates ( I had no idea). I'm still stoked on getting these and putting them on, the final product is a beauty.

 

We are working on having the person who does our web pages add the option to get the filler pre-drilled and or installed. When we first launched the product, we did it this way because we wanted to give the DIY install guys a chance to DIY and save a few bucks. But you guys have spoken and we are adjusting to support what the community wants. Thank you for the feedback!

I have them, they installed them for me as well for a pretty small fee, 25 degree AKA no step and they tuck up nice and tight and out of the way. I have smasher, bashed, slammed and hammered them already on nasty rocks... they don't move or bend or dent. Get them Rhino lined so they are extra tough so you don't need to repaint them every trip, and you will never have to touch them again once installed

Also, the customer service and help with Cali Raised is among the best I have ever head... great group of guys and gals

 

Only if you want them to have a depth to them (associated with a thick clear coat). It'd be purely cosmetic. I only clear coated the color matched plates on mine to hopefully add some durability to the paint. The actual sliders themselves are just bed-lined.

 

I have Caliraised sliders for my DCLB and hope to get them installed soon. I had them powdercoat them and I also got the filler plates as I have a three year old and she needs a little help getting up still. Looking forward to getting them on.

 

Thanks for the info in this thread! This has helped a bunch. Like others have said I was a little surprised that these plates were a DIY kind of deal - there's nothing wrong really with the direction you went and its on me for not really getting that at first.

I just bought mine (order # 18871) but haven't touched them yet - just sitting on the garage floor - and despite being powdercoated already I'd bring them back for this. The idea of having these be truly one-piece all steel welded and one step powdercoat is like next level. I'll happily bring them back and you can go to town on them. You can have the untouched alum plates still in the box and I'll cover the powdercoat costs again too. PM or something if you want to dig into this I'm more than happy to test mule...

This would be my second option if its available for ppl that have already purchased. Honestly I would still want to someday bring them back to grind these off and install steel plates (pls give us a $ on that if you can because I bet I wouldn't be the only one - thankfully I'm local)

One thing I didn't see covered is the correct size drill bit for the rivets included in the bag?

For the fillers, we have made one update already. We are now using "sealed" rivets which have worked great and have been included in every order starting about 10 days ago. We are constantly trying to improve our products and this is a good easy start. They are still a pop rivet, but they are closed on the back side, so they seal the hole. If you want some, shoot me your info and I will gladly send you some, this goes for anyone who wants to swap out.

As for adding the welded fillers, shoot me a DM and we can discuss some options for you. So far the fillers have been very popular and beyond the challenge of installation, people love them and once they are installed, life is good. We are in the infant stages of making some more tweaks to make this easier for everyone, while still maintaining the concept of removable plates that can be painted/coated independently of the slider itself.

For the rivets, they are 1/8" drill bit.

Does the 25* angle prevent the "leg scrape" when getting in and out of the cab? This is one of the main reasons I've held off on getting sliders.

 

For the most part yes. It sticks out about 1.5" from the edge of the cab. I don't notice they are there when I drive our 3rd gen that has the 25 degree sliders on it. The 0 degree step sliders are noticeably there, for better or worse depending on what you are looking for.

I was going back and forth between Mobtown, White Knuckle, and RCI. I like the strength of square main beams and wanted bolt ones. Ultimately went RCI when I found them with free shipping.

This was a valid question and we like the feedback, both praise and things we need to address. We are very confident we have it resolved with the sealed rivets. We use a little silicone as well for good measure. As I mentioned to him, our goal was to create something different that we had not really seen executed this way. Our customers have responded really well and done some fun creative things with the panels because they are a separate part. Color match, bed liner, raw aluminum, accent colors, or only ran partial plates. We love this creativity and are working to make sure the quality is there while still allowing people to be creative. So far we have worked hard to ensure every person is happy and taken all feedback very seriously and will continue to do so.

A little note from my research. We were originally going to do square tube and make a hybrid. After testing we realized the strength limitations were not the tubing, but the frame plates. You can add all the strength you want to the tubing but the frame plates can flex a lot causing problems. After realizing this we tried 7 different frame plate designs and landed on what we have now, and they are super rigid. They only flex 1/4” with both tires on one side off the ground. We did one set with square and one with tube and found no real world difference in strength from the use of square. Not saying square isn’t stronger, but it didn’t have an impact on the real world use.

May sound silly but I wish there was a HREW option. The DOM for me is overkill and I even spend time in the rocks. I don’t lean on them when I do encounter some rocks, have never had an issue with the lighter tubing in the past. The weight savings for me would be big.
