I'm with ya both there. I'm going to walk the line a bit further towards the purpose built rig side. Knowing I have the cruiser to use for little camping trips and the Z to drive around is good for peace of mind in thrashing on the rig. A lot less daily driver related stuff will be considered this time in the build. But another thing that's got me pretty excited this time is all the interior comfort mods I have planned, less driving fatigue while wheeling is new goal with new things to learn.

Its totally the same level! haha what you think your going to move trucks and then suddenly just have stuff to build? nah. Bigger build..bigger parts..bigger tools..bigger bucks..slows you down man haha

I have lots of Parts for Frank. Someday they will go on!

 

But will you be the one to install them, or will that be the next guy?

Why? Because they are a little less expensive. Which size?

There sizing for both of their "off-road" models are a bit limited. In fact, the only size of theirs I'd consider would be 285/75-16s and both models are Es.

Is it just me or does this pattern look almost identical to Cooper ST Maxxs

The size is right, too bad they are Es though. I like the tire, but is still heavy. I am blaming the Ben's out there that complain that KM2s had weak sidewalls. BFG used those as an excuse to beef up their tires but this makes them heavy.

Nice to see they finally released this size. It is a tire to consider when the time comes.

 

Thought it was a st Maxx before I read your comment. I think the center tread is different. Definitely similar.

 

I actually have no formal opinion on their mud terrain. But yeah it looks a lot like a Cooper. I'm just extremely pleased with their all terrain. I could have sworn I saw it in a 255 85. But I don't know, that's never really been a tire size I've ever considered.

 

Looks pretty damn similar to me.

I'm not quite ready for that tight of a pattern. We've gotten into some pretty gooey, sticky shit on some of our adventures and it just seems like the larger voids are better. Even the hybrids seem a little tight to me.

 

I tend to prefer an MT for a Wheeling rig as well. That's why I have those huge coopers in my garage. But I will say I've been very impressed with kumho at51 pulling my trailer in sloppy mud and the week after in snow and ice. It cleared itself very well in the mud and snow. If it weren't for the fact that it's on a vehicle that I don't intend to wheel much knowing what I know now I'd be tempted to try a set of them on the Tacoma if I didn't already have the coopers. The at51 are pretty darn light for an E rated Tire, keeping in mind I have them in 285/75/16. I would imagine that theyre a good deal heavier in the 315/75/16 size I need for the taco.

 

Their 285s are lighter at 54# each. That is about 7# less than my STT Pros in the same size.

The 315s weigh 64#.

 

The 315s are only 3 lb lighter than my Cooper's

 

Actually, to show much has changed, the Cooper STT Pros are a little lighter than their competitors. I find this interesting because when they first came out they were heavier. Especially compared to KM2s.

But I need tires for Igor. Either go 32s since you can get C load in that size. Or go to the size Brett is running.
