The Tundra is likely the next truck I buy depending on how this Tacoma treats me. Also depending how the refresh goes that will surely come up before I am ready.

The comfort of the bigger trucks is great. Being in a vehicle that you can stretch out in is really nice on longer trips.

my truck handles fairly well on longer trips, especially with the shoes off cruising
i do have the nicest, perhaps most desirable, 1st gen sport bucket seats though that i paid a pretty coin to have :spending:
even in my current age i can almost make it a full tank of fuel before needing to stop and stretch. but need to stop at rest stops every couple of hours to use the facilities and get a snack, refill my water, etc.

Same here, looked at them this time around, wasn’t ready to jump up in size yet. And I know it’s a truck, but a little improvement in mpg would be ok also. Looking forward to seeing what they do with the next tundra.

That was our opinion as well. We don't pull anything yet, which we plan on in the future, and our garage isn't quite big enough for a four door, full sized truck and the GX470. Also, there isn't anything I NEED a full sized truck for right now. But it's real nice to have a truck in general when you own a house. So Taco it was! GMC, Chevy and Ford just don't offer anything "up to par" in my opinion and the Nissan isn't my favorite company.

In the double cab of the tundra you can sleep comfortably in the backseat. Lol

Why are you spending the money on 2 vehicles for that few miles? The money spent on insurance and maintenance is surely more than the little extra fuel you would burn just having a truck..

i was doing $40k+ miles a year and couldn’t justify it financially even though I did it for a while (mostly just to keep the miles down on my 2005 tacoma). One vehicle ends up sitting most of the time.

Im not sure, they did, I was looking at the access cab equivalent, not the full 4 doors. Next time I’m in the market I’ll probably be looking at the 4 door crew cab.

i helped my sister out a lot transporting her young kids back when they needed proper infant restraints and then throughout their school years, ... law enforcement would frown upon not having them properly buckled in tight and secure!
hence the need for the 4 door car, plus its always nice to have something to just make a quick run to the supermarket or pizza place and nowdays to the salvage yard for research on beat down old Tacomas and not worry about getting filthy on the dirty ground checking things out.

@ajmogen - We're going to need references from your dealership and at least one person who isn't a friend that knows you that can vouch for the fact that you've tasted Tacoma frame rust on at least one occasion. On top of having tasted it you must then prove you have properly remedied said rust problem properly using techniques @GQ7227 approved.

just basically failing frame coating flaky paint chips at this point, nothing major of concern found as of yet... but still need to get into the back section areas
i do have a pic of what the undercoating did by the cat which was getting bad, glad i found it in time to remedy

I had a first gen with frame replacement. I’d post a picture but that was before smartphones with decent cameras so I’d have to try and find an actual photo and that sounds like way too much work.

    looked like this

during this current turmoil i 'may have' forgotten to mention that @Kwikvette in CA had placed dibs onit several months ago
but i am not exactly sure of what his intentions are at this point and if he even still has a vested interest
i had been trying to start getting some legal papers drawn up to transfer title at my TOD but nothing has been finalized as of yet
sometimes i have to honestly shake my head at some of the TW members in the 1st gen section that most likely have absolutely no clue how real it can get in these parts
the best i can do to demonstrate this whole debacle is to post up pics of stuffs i have found in the local salvage lot of those old trucks that somehow 'slipped' through the corporate cracks from a decade ago and are now as visible to the world as can be on what i am having to deal with
