I've had it with the OME's

Ok so I recently bought some ome 885s and the nitro 90000s and put them on my truck. I am starting to hate the way my truck rides, it is more stiff and bumpy than any 3500 I've ridden in. I even get a headache when driving on bumpy roads for long periods of time.
My question is there a way of loosening them or am I going to have to get something different?

 

Your gonna have to do something different or find a way to beat those springs down. You might be able to find a member with 884's and possibly do a straight trade with them! I had 884's and they rode pretty soft but harsh at the same time because my 4 banger doesnt have as much weight up front. Are you running the top plate spacer up front as well? Maybe take that out and see if the ride improves?

Stock is lame and no fun! OP you could just sell the front suspension and get 5100 set at 1.75" and be happy

i was told the 884s and 885s were the same spring rate, the 885s are just longer so you get more lift, whereas the 884s are only set to give you around 2'' of lift without the top plate spacer. So you might have to just go with something different altogether.

 

According to Toytec the 884's are for the single and extended cabs. The 885's or for the double cabs. My impression is that the 885 has a slightly higher spring rate, enough to handle the double cab and provide the same amount of lift on the proper vehicles.

 

I thought the 885's were more for DC's? You might need to go 884's.

 

Yeah I don't want to spend a ton on new shocks...so I was thinking 5100's but I kinda want a little more lift...like 3.5".

 

more lifts not gonna happen from springs and shocks. gonna have to do a drop bracket kit or spindles if your 2wd. if you think it rides harsh now itll ride even worse if you try to get 3.5 outta springs and shocks.

 

3.5"? Go with the RCD lift.

 

I would just sell the 885's and get the 884's. OME is known to be a better ride than 5100's. I am pretty sure no matter what suspension you get you are not going to be happy with the ride at 3.5", that is a lot of front lift for these trucks.

 

'I dont think you're going to get that amount of lift and a 'smooth' ride, unless you got spindles. but yeah I have Icons and the stiffness is starting to bug.

 

If you wanted that much lift from COs, it's going to be stiff. I had 5100 with stock spring; it was soft but then it's at 1.75". Now I have ICON at 3", I hate the stiffness but I have to live with it to fit 33".

use spindles for 4" and stock suspension!

 

Go with o.e. Blown shocks for ultimate softness!

 

Put a few hundred pounds of gear in the front of your truck bed.

 

Someone mentioned spindles. Have any suggestions?
