... just looking for a somewhat central location to set up a DIY shop with like a 'timeshare' on expensive equipment / lease of garage space unless somebody has a big garage in the country to install lifts or open pit

i am a bit tired and tired of paying $110-$140 labor rates and/or $40/hr lift rental that will not let me work as i damned well please underneath

possibly find 25 people interested and the 4 post lift for $12k gets cut to $500(ish) ... just need a fairly central location without the regular bitchers i hear about distance
unless you possibly already know of someone with a similar timeshare garage with a good setup to get involved with :notsure:

Shit the lift is the cheap part. Who wants to pitch in the $100k for the ground and building?

building would probably already be there and vacant?
not looking to build something new!

    and lawyers can alleviate that
i had to sign a waiver at the DIY shop in Bellevue on camera that i read it

$100k would be low if you're building it out yourself.

Also agree with the liability part. There are some of these type of garages around and doing well, but you really have to place it somewhere people are not only interested in working on their own stuff, but enthusiastic about it. They need to be enthusiasts. The problem with that in the midwest is, especially around the QCA, everyone has a friend that has a shop. If they don't, they'll find someone. I think it would be really hard to keep something like that open around here because of that.

I think the only way to do it would to be to register it and set it up as a non-profit and find some wealthy people to use it as a tax write-off. That way, if it looses money, it's not a big deal. I think it would be super tough to turn a profit after the first 3-5 years as any business should.

    i am just brainstorming!
my truck is nearing the point of needing more extensive laborious heavy work than a simple oil change, radiator drain, gearbox fluid change, etc.

This must mean you’ve moved on from selling your truck and buying a new one
