Wow, how sad. Thats exactly why I check intersections multiple times before proceeding. Especially when I have my two young boys with me.

That's a very expensive cab ride, I know Uber has upped their rates recently but damn.

My ex had a seizure in a grocery store literally right across the street from the town's hospital...someone called 911 and the ambulance came to pick her up and take her across the street to the ER. Bill for the ambulance ride was just over $1k.

Same. Still look left and right when it's green.

Should’ve told them she doesn’t need a ride, she just wants attention and does this all the time. Kick her side a couple times and say... see, she’s fine.

If you don't pay your bills anyways, you're most likely not going to pay for the ambulance ride.

I wasn't there or believe me I would have run her over to the hospital to avoid that bill, though I'm fairly certain her insurance covered it...anyway this was after we'd broken up and she was in the store by herself, bystanders didn't know what was happening and rightfully called 911 (at least they didn't just pretend to not see anything like most people these days would do)

First off, you're awesome for saving lives on a daily basis. I'm sure that you regularly see some pretty messed up stuff. Much respect for your service... But I really want to see you levitate, dude. I bet that shit is cool as hell to see in person.

Thank you for the sentiment, but please I'm not awesome. It is a job and nothing more and not one that I particularly enjoy or am proud of.

Secondly, I said levitate because, when you're the first arriving EMS unit on a scene with multiple patients, your butt hole puckers so tightly that you forget everything you learned in school and just kinda "float" around until you find someone who needs help the worst!

I've pulled up on several scenes where the first-in company has a look on their faces like they've just seen a ghost. I know it's been on mine more than once!

Pretty standard. Our department ALS service cost is $700 plus $25 per mile, with additional charges if we give medication. Being a seizure patient, I'd imagine they gave her an IV just in case she had another and they needed to terminate the seizure en route.

He's absolutely right. "clearing" the intersection is a simple technique that may save your life some day. When the light turns green look both ways for dipshits trying to scream through the light. It just takes a couple seconds. It's pretty easy to tell if they aren't stopping. More than once I've had Mr or Mrs impatient honking for me to go while somebody blows the light at warp speed. I'd rather be flipped off than dead.

Just FYI you can do this before the light turns green and you'll have much more information and also not block traffic.

I'm pretty quick at it, but there is always the possible honker of horns one millisecond after the light changes. I scan before and after for the numbnut that suddenly gooses it to run the light.

I know who that person was, who lost his life in that Tacoma. Guy was only 26. My wife actually knew him a little better, but I believe he was just returning home from work. Shit is sad man, how quickly your life can be taken from you.

I wonder what the reason was for that other car to run that red light.
