I think it's 4405 lbs, but I'm not 100% when I'm reading specs on these things. It's this one, the lightest one I have found so far that has double bunks with a queen bed.

I pulled my boat to PA last summer in the Sequoia and it was a breeze. I pull my boat to work in Columbia with the Taco and I’m glad the trip is over. Even on stock size tires you have to lock it out of high gear on any incline and she’s pretty much screaming the whole way if you’re trying to go a decent speed. If it goes into high gear on an incline the trans temp starts climbing fast, but drop it down a gear and it stays much cooler.

guess it all depends on how far you’re gonna tow it.

That’s a big girl right there...but would definitely be comfortable for the whole family.

GVWR is 5500lbs so we’ll within the tow capacity...just make sure you get some trailer sway control and brake controller on the truck.

We would primarily be towing it to state parks in SC, occasionally to places like AOP or Windrock that would require us to get up in elevation, and speeds likely wouldn't be in excess of 55-65 MPH. I do have the tow package on my truck, and I'd look into adding a brake controller and a trailer sway control kit. At least that is as far as I've gotten into researching stuff yet.

Do you have a scanguage or ultra gauge to monitor trans temp? I have the TRD OR with trans cooler and mine still gets hot. Been debating a larger trans cooler for a while. Stop and go traffic makes it the hottest.

    can you, yes.

however that is the dry weight. You have to take into account all the crap your gonna be hauling as extras (gear, luggage, etc) as well as the weight of passengers.

you can easily add another 1500lbs to that dry weight, then you start pushing the limits of the truck at that point.

I wouldn’t go anywhere without sway control, weight distributing hitch, brake controller, and something to monitor trans temps.

Have you looked at pop-up campers? They're a little more manageable on the weight.

Take a look at the Coachmen Clipper 17bhs @EricL

it’s smaller but should have everything you’d need for a weekender trip

We’ve looked at so many campers since last weekend, it’s not even funny. Two RV shows and many hours online. It all kind of blends together after you look at so many. I think we have it narrowed down to two for the weekend. Insurance is 250-350 per year.

they aren’t without their own challenges

Every Towable needs to be weighed as received, the weight on the Frame sticker may not include the “add on’s” a dealer will put on them. LP tank(s) batteries, awnings, AC, this stuff isn’t installed at the factory but at the dealership in most cases, so it’s not reflected on the frame sticker. And suddenly you’re over weight on tires ( tire capacity is another thing to be aware of, they aren’t always up to the job either)
Our Popup weighed 3480 standing alone with some gear, ac, Awning, dual batteries, one LP tank, water in toilet and in water heater (5gal ea). Tire capacity new was 3220lbs. Tongue weight is 430lbs. I had to upsize the tires and wheels to get a safer weight capacity.

and asking the dealer what it weighs or anything about add ons, he’s there to sell, he’ll lie like a rug to make that sale.

    5000lb 28ft Featherlite behind a 3rd gen 4Runner, sure no problem.....

Haha, yeah. We had a conversation about those in the SOS thread. Something something sex silhouettes something.

Hmm, cool. I like that. It is smaller but seems to still have everything we've been looking for.

Viking makes one as well, same model 17BHS or 17BH (no slideout) no difference other than the name and outside decals. Both made by Coachman.

If I had a choice I'd get one without a slideout. One less thing to break.

When we were looking, we were going to get a CampLite Livin-Lite because they were all aluminum, no wood (no rot), super light weight, but we’re expensive as hell. We walked away when the dealer tried some underhanded shit buy adding in like $6k in set up charges or some shit that wasn’t on the price quoted.

Never went for an RV again after that but if I did, it would be the same make/model.
