No access cabs available in SoCal?

I'm in San Diego area looking to pay cash if I have to for a 2020 TRD Sport 4x4 access cab in the cement color. I've talked to 4 or 5 dealerships and their basically telling me good luck with that, ain't gonna happen. Looking for the long bed and they keep pushing the DC or DCLB. Getting conflicting answers as to why I can't special order or do a dealer swap. Just wondering is this just a California thing or is it nationwide ?

 

It was a pain in the ass when I was looking in the months leading up to buying mine. I lucked out and found seemingly the only 4 banger with 4x4 in SoCal.

 

there are fewer access cabs than double cabs but they are there. it might be because the color you are looking for is hard to find in that config. i'd look up north in LA they seem to have bigger inventory than san diego.

 

There are a couple big dealers here in the OC/LA area. I'd contact all the big boys.

I was in a similar situation recently, couldn't get what I wanted in San Diego / SoCal. If you're not flexible in what you want, suggest looking at cars.com to see what's available nationwide, and be prepared to travel. There's one per spec in Pueblo CO at the moment.

You will most likely have to fly out of state. I just bought a 2019 in Cavalry Blue in the offroad model and flew to buy it.

 

Where I got my taco, cerritos auto square, there were lots of access cabs but that was 2 years ago.

 

Have you tried Toyota of Escondido? I went through their Internet Sales department back in 2017 and they ordered my vehicle. 2017 Off Road Access Cab. My sales guy is no longer there. It took about 6 weeks to get my truck.

 

Check the websites of all your nearby dealers and look at their inventory. If nothing, check cars.com and input your desired specs and it will help you find wat you need. OR contact a dealers internet sales and see if they will cooperate and find/order a truck.

When I got my access cab in Colorado, in 2016, it was tough to find one... I ended up emailing all of the major toyota dealers in the state telling them what I wanted and one of the internet specialist sales dudes was able to divert one from elsewhere, I didn't have to wait too long maybe a few weeks.

I flew out of state for my Tacoma and drove it home. It is an easy process.

 

I got mine out of state as well. Had a bunch of hoops to jump through. Needed a notary, vin verification, weight verification, and smog.

 

I'm in UT, not CA, but I had to get my 2020 TRD OR Access Cab shipped in from the next state over when I bought it last month. There wasn't a single new access cab off-road in the entire state when I was searching.

When I bought my 2018 TRD OR DCSB in late 2018 I couldn't find an access cab in a three state area that was an Off Road. I ended up settling for a double cab

I thing the access cab is where it's at, but if they still made a single cab

 

I was searching for an Access Cab V6 SR5 4x2 in Silver Sky in Houston/Austin/San Antonio/Dallas/Fort Worth for half a year and realized that the Gulf States Toyota Market doesn't order Tacomas in this configuration.

They only stock the White 4 Cyl Access Cabs for the Pool/Pest Control guys.

I searched Autotrader for exactly what I wanted, sorted from nearest to furthest... closest was in Atlanta, GA. I flew there on a Friday, bought the truck, had dinner, stayed the night, and drove home 11 hours in the morning. Glad I did it.
