Static sound from new sound system

I just got an amp installed and there is a really loud static sound when the speakers are set at 0 and I can hear it in the background of my music until a certain level which it kind of blends in. Once I hit my volume knob to turn “off” the speakers, the static sound goes away but there is a small high frequency sound coming from the speakers. Do you guys know what the problem could be? Bad wires? Poor grounding? I’ve looked everywhere for answers but no definite ones. TIA

I have that when volume is at 0 not sure if it’s as loud as yours. But it “blends” in after turn it up to 2 on volume. Stock head unit, lc7i and xr901-5 for my mids and highs.

I have a lc6i, infinity kappas, kicker amp, and a DB sound all in one sub(getting a JL sub soon) and stock radio. I feel like the gain might be set too high. Also, the speakers pop out of the grill a little is that normal or is that the installers fault? If you touch the grill of the speakers u can feel the kappas bulging out.

what converters are used to pull the audio for the rca? they probably need to be grounded

 

If I’m being honest I have no idea, where can I find out? I can look for it in my truck, just let me know where to look and I will.

 

Gains on the amp are probably too high
Output levels on the lc6i are probably too high

 

behind the head unit, i’m assuming you had a shop install?

 

I’ve looked behind the unit and only saw the lc6i, out put was like 3/4 set on all knobs. Maybe I didn’t look good enough but that’s the only box I saw. Still not sure where the amp is. Looked everywhere but the output is really loud.

 

well ¾ way up on the lc6i is WAY too high. Half way max.

the amp location will depend on the amp itself. Most likely either under one of the seats, or against the back wall in those cubbies

My vote is that the gain is too high. That audiocontrol DSP can output up to an 8.5 V signal to the amp..the amp gains don’t need turned up at all.

Regarding the pop noise.. a quality amp will definitely have the pop-kill circuit to prevent the turn-on and turn-off pop that usually happens with class D amps. At most it should only sound like a tiny little muted tap noise or click.
