Hey all, I have a 2011 trd sport 4x4.... And I can't figer out what to do.

Originally I wanted to go for the best of the best with icons CO, TC ucas and a emu leaf pack. That puts me around the 2000$ mark.

I'm not a hardcore 4x4er, this is a DD that gets me to work, the mountain to board and hunting roads.

So I really don't think I need that nice of a set up.

I'm thinking of going with the toytec ultimate lift with aal.

    I want to clear 285/70/17's.
Wheels I'm looking at have 4.25BS.

Will that setup work with setting the CO's at 2.5in? I don't want to worry about new UCAs and cv angles.

I think this is all. Ahh

    Thank u all in advance!

RCD drop bracket lift... retains stock suspension geometry and lifts 4.5 inches... no need to upgrade UCAs, flat cv angles

    costs $1799 from wheelersoffroad

clear 285s easily... rides like stock

Go with long travel suspension... Oh wait a min you said 2000.00 dollars... haha. Uhhhhh... I would get some Icon resi CO's with TC UCA's. As for the rear deaver's leaf spring kit with Icon resi shocks.

    Thanks for the quick responses...

But I was trying to get away from the premium setup cause I won't be really using it to the full potential.

Rcd, I don't have the confidence to do something like that lift, and would need a shop to install. Round here a DB lift goes for around 1000$ to install. CO's I can do myself.

If I had coilovers set at 2.5in... Will it clear 285's? And how bad will cvs be at that point?

Or should I really just fork it out for new ucas and set lift to 3in?

    Thanks all!

anything over 2" will need new UCAs to get correct alignment... alignment will be marginal at best without new ucas.

CV angles will be stressed with any suspension lift.... the higher the lift the more stress... our cv can handle increased angle with smaller lifts, but 2.5" will begin to push it.

285s will require cutting/chopping/banging in the wheel well area to clear 285s

since you won't offroad much... Light Racing ball joint UCAs would work just fine

if you can do coilovers you can do DB lift... it will just take a helluva long time

Thanx solus. Thanks for making me spend more money haha. It is only money I guess!

I originally wanted the RCD lift when I first got my 2nd gen. I went from a 1st gen.

One question about that lift, how's the ride with the blocks in the back?

    Thanks!

its okay on the street but a little bouncy on bumps and offroad... I intend to upgrade the rear at some point but its not that big a deal for now

Ah yes, I went through the same thing.

    More isn't better.

So many folks (including me) post pics on here of taco's clearing 285/70R17s and they look really badass. But clearing those tires means a more radical 3" lift with potential alignment, UCA, diff CV issues etc...

For your intended use, consider simplifying.

Bilstein 5100s all around set at 1.75 in the front and an Add-a-Leaf in the back, then run 275/70R17 BFG All-Terrain TA tires on 17x8 rims with 4.5" backspacing. You might have to remove front modflaps and cut a little plastic from the inner front wheelwells.

Improved clearance, traction (both off-road and on paved icy/snowy roads) tire durability, and looks vs. stock. No alignment issues. No harsh ride. Done.

    Ahhhhhhh.

Moose, your probably right. I'd love to go big, especially after looking around at all of the sweet trucks on here.

And, if I wanted to after a few years I can upgrade. But for now and I'm purpose with the truck it's probably the best idea to go with what u just stated.

I am kinda leaning upwards the dura tracs tho'!

I'm looking at the wheelers site. 178$ for front. 158$ for the back 5100's. Then a 1.5in AAL for like 75$ and then I'm set yah?

Thanks again for all your input!

    Thanks oswego,

I think this will be the route I take.

    One last question...

Could I set the bilsteins to 2.5 and run 285/70/17 with 4.25 bs wheel with little to no probs? If not, I'll probably stick with what moose suggested...

More isn't better. Once you set those bilstiens up to 2.5 you start opening up the chances of all the issues that come with 3" lift. There's never any certainty you'll have problems. But you might, and you need to be mentally prepared to deal with them, including simply rougher ride. Many folks on this site who installed 5100s started with them at 2.5 then went down to 1.75 or even .85 to get a smoother ride.

Well after a little more searching, and your last post... You've got my convinced, finally.

Bilsteins at 1.75. AAL. And 265/70/17 duratracs. I think that'll do it! :-D thanks!

I am going RCD. Install is set for 10/25/10. I want to keep as close to stock ride as possible and run 285's. I test drove a Tundra with a fabtech 6 inch lift and it was a bit stiff for my taste with the coilovers.

Thanks for the pic. That's the setup I'm gonna go with. Bilsteins at 1.75. I think I'm gonna give wheelers a call today and order!

I was thinking of just an AAL. Ive thought about the progressive tho', but don't like the idea of removing the overload. I don't haul a lot. But in the near future I'll have a quad. And boat...
