It really does look like something from up front in the belt area or on top.

    14mm isn't it?

Define lately within the last year to 6 months ??

I am forever dropping Hardware Just go to the bolt bin and get another one.

I still say it was dropped and replaced a bolt that size should be easy to find where it came from

Maybe an air box bolt? It definitely has tool marks on it.

Probably the dealer or whoever worked on your truck dropped it and said ah fuck it I’m not looking for it and can’t reach it so grabbed a new one and installed it, left the old one down who knows where til it dropped onto your skid, so you’ll not even see an empty place where it belongs.

Try to match it to a socket. If it's SAE, it's not from your truck.

Well, if it's a 14mm head, 9/16" will also fit nicely on there. or 19mm and 3/4"

Update: I found out where it goes.

I took my truck in to Toyota for the 35k service, and I kindly asked the techs if they could put their brain power to use to locate where the bolt came from my engine bay. Low and behold Toyota disappointed me and they said, "We have no idea where that bolt goes."

I'm thinking, "Wow thats great! The company who builds the fucking truck doesn't know how to figure out where a bolt came from! Do I have to take it to a Ford dealership to find out where a Toyota bolt goes?" They were both equally as useful.

As my luck would have it, I hit a deer a few days later and the deer went through my plastic bumper and ripped out my entire passenger fender well with my fender. (My profile pic has the new relentless bumper thanks to project_recon). I gazed into the gaping, gigantic, glorious hole that Bambi had created in my fender well and saw that my radiator mount was missing a bolt.

I've never touched the radiator mounting bolts before or have had any work done to the radiator. I also checked the other radiator bolts and two of them were loose as well. I think it is probably from driving fast on desert roads. I loctite'd all of them.

PSA: Check your Radiator Mounting bolts to see if they're loose or in my case - missing. This is clearly only needed if you actually do anything fun with your truck.

13mm and 1/2" work together. Though, don't think you will find many 13mm on the truck.

    Canada Eh!
OP, FYI the yellowish rust you describe on the bolt threads is actually a type of thread locker.

Best practice dictates that if you use additional loctite, to make sure you remove all of the factory stuff first. On the Polaris Rzrs that the Canadian Army got the factory threadlocker reacted very negatively when mixed the loctite. It created a lubricant of sorts and would cause the bolts to back out.

I don’t know if this would be the case with Toyota’s factory threadlocker, but better to be safe than sorry.
