What is a 1st generation supercharger worth that has been rebuilt and not installed? No hardware or anything else just the charger. Also what do I need to check on it to make sure it’s good?

Make sure it's been rebuilt by a shop with a warranty and actual documentation like invoices proving it's been rebuilt.

I bought a rebuilt supercharger last year. It turned out while the bearings had been replaced the rotors were completely shot and beyond repair amongst other things. I sent it out to The High Speed Lab for a proper rebuild. In the end I'll have spent just as much as if I'd bought a brand new supercharger.

Unless it was rebuilt by a shop with a warranty I'd assume it hasn't been rebuilt and needs to be rebuilt so maybe $1000 max. Don't take anyone's word that says it's been rebuilt.

Edit: no hardware is a giant pain in the ass. I'd say with no rebuild documentation and no hardware I wouldn't pay more than like $750. My own shitty experience is tainting my judgement so I might not be the best person to listen to.
If it were "ready to go" I'd pay like $2K for it.

Hell no 2k is way too much, $800 maxx, a new one is like 3k$ from LCE, might aswell pay the 3k not the 2k,

Have to ask why do you want a superarger?

A shop rebuild with warranty alone is more than $800. I don't see someone paying $800 to rebuild it and then sell it for $800. I wouldn't trust a random person's rebuild...even for $800.

What I'm saying is that it's my opinion that if it hasn't been rebuilt by a shop with a warranty don't touch it.

I do agree $2K is too much...maybe more like $1500. That's still half a new one.

Edit: OP did you find a supercharger? Can you tell us somethings about it?

He wants 1500 for it i was thinking 1200
You can get all hardware from urd for 170
And I would have to get a belt and a tensioner

The rotors appear to be sand blasted. If that's pictures of it being rebuilt..... um nice tailgate bench.

    Stock for now
Another thing to remember is first gen sc don’t use tensioner like second gen. 1st gen used the tensioner from the alternator. I’m not sure the second gen tensioner can be use with the first gen sc

Is it worth a 1000 if he will take it? Or who would risk it and try it for a 1000?

Yea, he sent me an email already and gave him my input.

It needs to be thermal coated and possibly a new rotor pack as I see the rotor touched the rear case.

Who knows what type of a rebuilt was done before if it was just the bearings or what.

1000 to get it rebuilt because you don’t know any real history. Plus you need to chase Down the hardware the correct bolts etc and tensioner And belt, gasket =150.00

So maybe 800.00 is more of a real price.

If you pay 1000 for supercharger
    1000 for rebuild
150 for parts if you can find them all

    2250.00

A new one with warranty is 2995.00

For 700 dollars more I would buy a new one.

I think maybe he wants someone else’s opinion too

For a supercharger with unknown conditions and no hardware 800.00 is the most you would want to pay.
