Is there somewhere in the vin #, or else where, that identifies what the color of the interior is officially.

I'm trying to figure this out to. I have an 02 TRD Prerunner with light gray interior, I just ordered gray factory floor mats and they are dark gray (charcoal). I thought the only other color was Oak (tan)? My intereior doesn't look tan, looks like a similar light gray that's in my Tahoe. Is there a color code on the truck or can I search by VIN?

If your truck is black you should have Oak interior.

You can take your VIN to the dealer & ask them what color comes up.

Is Oak more of a light gray than a tan? My truck is black.

Oak is a definite brown. Cant be confused with gray.

The color codes should be on the driver side door frame sticker, with the VIN and the paint code. Not sure of the number, placement, but it is there, I think. Yeah...um.

Don't see any sticker that has the interior color on it. Can someone post a pick of the Oak interior on a 2002-2004?

This is a reply to an older thread, but attached is a picture of the door sticker with paint and trim (I think) codes noted:

I don't think that trim code applies specifically for interior color. If it was, then there would only be two trim codes since interior color is either oak or charcol. There's more trim codes than just two

My interior is charcol, my trim code is FK10 but I have a doublecab.

Well I'll be damned, sounds like your interior is charcol gray. I could of sworn I've only seen oak interior for black but maybe that's only on the 5 luggers & the 4x4/prerunners have charcol?

Look at this link, black extra cab prerunner, trim code FB10, the interior on this truck is charcol: http://www.alltoyotatrucksuvparts.com/new-arrivals/100049.html

Look at these two, they are oak interior:
    http://www.alltoyotatrucksuvparts.com/new-arrivals/100029.html
    http://www.alltoyotatrucksuvparts.com/new-arrivals/100006.html

Based on what I see from that site, if trim code is XX1X it's charcol & XX4X is oak.

I have some floor mats that I bought new 5 years ago. Only used them for a few months & took them out. If I can find them I'll pull them out & see how dark they are compared to my interior. They should still look pretty new since I put them in the boxes for my husky liners.

Well my interior can't be considered charcoal. It's way too light. My friend has a 4runner with charcoal and it's alot darker. I got floor mats for my truck online. I ordered gray and the ones they sent are the color of his 4runner and don't match my truck at all. They are a dark charcoal gray and the correct part, but not the correct color. Did they put the dark gray in some of these trucks and no one knows about it? My truck is more of a light or medium gray. The link to the 2004 TRD prerunner is just like my truck, same color and interior.

Charcoal is what they call the light gray on these models. If you have the wrong color mats why don't you return them? Post a pic.

Yeah, that's what I have. It's strange because the 4runners have an actual charcoal interior.

Thought I'd give an update. The dealer looked up another lighter gray interior color. They are going to compare it and let me know. Here is a side by side comparison of the charcoal mat they sent me next to my stock gray mat.

    notslow...

that darker one looks like it would match my interior ('96)

I'm guessing they lightened up the interior colors at some point - don't know when exactly but I'd be willing to bet it was [95-00] *change* [01-04]

That would explain it. Because according to everything I've read there is only one color of gray in the 01-04 tacomas.

I wish the darker color was available. I like it much better.

They're sending me the right color mats.
