I want to buy a strong/heavy loop or D-Ring and securely mount it on my track rails.

Loop must be large enough to fit a Pewag 3/8" security chain, and comporable in thickness (read: bolt cutters will be ineffective):

    https://www.westechrigging.com/pewag-security-chain-038-kit-3.html

I am not the most mechanically inclined and was looking for some direction on what parts to buy and how to install it. It obviously needs to be securely mounted to the track rails as well.

    Thanks

Yeah, what @Captqc said, eye bolt, or shouldered eye bolt, or swivel eye bolt if u need it to move.

If you're going to secure something using that chain and the rail, I feel like they could just rip the rail out using the chain.

Agreed. The rail mounts on a composite bed would be the weak link.
That’s a beefy chain so I would prob drill a hole through the bed and through some steel part or plate under the bed and then install a heavy duty D-ring or eye-bolt....

Cable is better than chain .

Yea, just like that. Maybe even with a bigger loop for the chain.

Where can I buy that eye bolt, and how do I mount it to the rails? I browsed homedepot for a while but didn't see anything. May have been looking in the wrong place. Thanks.

Not sure where in the northeast you are but you won’t find these at Home Depot, you need to find a Grainger or McMaster Carr. I just used a bolt that fit into the slot of the rail but you can also get T-nuts that fit the rail.

    Eye nuts!!!

Just what I have been searching for, thank you.

Is it possible to put eye nuts on the bed of the truck, using those six big bolts that keep the bed on the frame?
