Yep and the primary changes to 04B12 and 04B13 is VVT timing and code.
The tables like torque, throttle etc didn't really change.

So this is the hold up to 2.0?

    Soooooo

how long until you can throw Toyota’s ecu logic in the trash and rewrite it the right way?

    I believe in you.

There are a few hold ups for 2.0. Not specifically this.

ReWriting all the code and redesigning it will take me years. The only thing I can positively do is rewrite sections, calculations, eliminating or changing steps in the code.

    Forced injection?

Right now there are 3 primary hold ups.
    1. Figuring out map switch control for MT
    2. Deciding on implementing octane learning or not
    3. 6AT.

    Ahh and DFCO

Simple torque tables, etc are done.

The most interesting part is how those change the act of shifting. Going from extremely touchy, high attention needed on each and every shift, like you are driving a new MT vehicle for the first time on every trip, to just being easy and careless like every DD MT.

I can say that the 2.0 Betas, esp early in the settling period gave me the best, most effort less shifts imaginable. The Beta seemed to take much longer than 1.05 to fully settle (about 1,000mi), then it became a bit notchy and the MPGs fell off. It would take a nice long drive for things to come back. I assumed that some of that was due to the Betas being not full versions?

I did toss you a couple messages about the DFCO testing. Mainly that the code stuck after flashing back to FOB (@M1Awolf confirmed also after flashing back to the Dump Tube tune). I can sort of guess why. Regardless, it is fucking awesome. Even the small change in 1st gear revs makes a big difference out on the road.

For your list, I can see how map switching and OLE would make your life simpler. Both are very nice to have. At the same time, I would run on 87 FOB / Tow and most likely be happy for the life of the Taco given the other 2.0 features that you noted.

I personally vote to ditch map switching.... Certainly there will be others that disagree though.

I wouldn't use map switching often enough to care.

map switching would be nice but i dunno how many would actually use it. i feel like most people are either gonna run the base tune or FOB and never switch.

You know it. With the injectors coming back on at about idle in 2nd on up, it is so nice to either be creeping around at those RPMs or slowing so smoothly while still getting some engine braking.

    Mostly stuff I built.
I have map switching on my current Cummins and on the one before. It is fun when you first get it but that fun goes away after a week or two. I just settled in on the tune that felt the best and left it alone after that. It’s overrated.

I am fine with no map swapping and have no issues with hooking up the laptop now and then. Leave the map swapping to the hand held tuner if it Is a must have for some. Quit over complicating things for Mat.

Considering I will need to run a catless tune I am not sure if any additional maps would be available. My vote, ditch the switching and get these tunes on a plate...

My impression is that map switching would not be necessary.

Personally I’d only want map switching if Mat developed an eco tune, to switch back and forth from a balls out performance tune to eco, both 91 octane.

From the previous reports it sounds like the performance tunes net the best fuel economy already when driven conservatively. If that’s still the case then it’s a moot point and a single tune would be sufficient for me.

Ps..I take delivery of my Pro on Tuesday and am itching some fierce for 2.0 final to be released for 2020’s. Btw @OVTune of you need or would like any additional 2020 MT ECU data downloaded, or if there’s anyway I can help with testing etc, please let me know.

That was discussed early on in the 2.0 development. The Base 87 tune would be targeted for economy. That is the only time that I would look to use it, like on a long road trip.

But yeah, 1.05 FOB gives me the best MPGs overall. The Betas on summer blend fuel did a bit better, but required some long runs to keep the MPGs up.
