Like the title implies i am looking for the best suspension combination to handle weight. I am beginning my build and figure that i will be somewhat heavy down the road by the end of my build. I am really just trying to plan things out so i only do it once.

Themain use of the truck will still be a daily driver. I can see myself taking 1 small trip each month for camping somewhere remote and taking 1-2 longer week long trips to somewhere in the US. So daily drivability to a certain extent is still important although my commute to work is very short. Maybe 15mins each way. It will also be used to haul mountain bikes here and there. Thinking probably getting a recon bike rack.

As far as what i can see for upgrades to the truck. Not all at once but done at some point.

    RLD canopy top
    Roof top tent
    270 awning
    Frontrunner roof racks
    Alum front bumper and winch
High clearance rear with possible swingouts(not sure if i want swingouts or not but then have to figure out where to mount spare)
Then have to be able to handle all recovery gear and gear for camping.
Possibly full underside skids. Thinking aluminum to save weight

My thoughts on all the armor is to protect the truck and add recovery points. I am not looking to make the truck a rock crawler though. It will be a means to getting me to some remote areas for camping./hiking.

I have read an bp51s as an option but am just looking for the best bang for my buck. If that is the best option then that is what i will go with. I already know i will most likely need a set of custom weavers. What would yall recommend? As i said I want to do it once and not have to redo everything

Oh and forgot to add that i plan on wanting a 2-2.5" lift and run 33s. Maybe 34 but i doubt that.

Ok so with the nitro charger or dobinson set up, how do you deal with slowly upgrading and adding weight because of it. Do most just plan for the future and buy based off what the future build would weigh? Or do you build based off what you have and then go back and upgrade leaf spring and coils once you add weight. I am planning on doing the suspension and wheels and tires first before anything else.

Hard to plan that out. If it will be a while until it’s heavy may want to go in phases. With everything you have you will be on the Heavy side for sure. You will want to look into spring rates but also shock valving. Factory settings on any brand are not rated for extra weight.

So when i get to the point where i need to compensate for the added weight and need custom valves shocks, is that why the BP 51s are so popular. First they are specific to the vehicle but you can also play with all the setting to further tailor everything to your vehicle and weight?

All the brands do the same. I haven’t used the BP’s but they were the least desirable in a some tests but they have a better price point. you can get 650-700 for the front springs and at least a HD Dakar setup.
