Cool that you've been able to hold on to that all these years. Something so small can get lost so easily.

If you look at my photos here I have managed to save most of them from my childhood. Your post made me think back to just how did that happen. It's very vague in my recollection but from what I recall, I had two large cases my Dad constructed himself to keep them nicely put away. I think if it wasn't for Dad's cases they mostly would've been lost over the years-thank you Dad! I kept them in my closet for years after I grew out of playing with them and when I was 16 we moved from Illinois to Ca. and they went with. The rest is history how they went with me going on my own and place to place and they now are again tucked away in my closet and some are displayed in a curio cabinet and 3 glass wall displays in the living room.
It's cool to still be able to look at them and actually hold them in my hands when I'm in the mood, and now that I'm almost 60 each one takes me back in its own way.

That’s awesome! I’ve said on here’s before I wish I had all my hot wheels from when I was a kid. I played with them and I’m sure they would be banged up but I did have my favorites that I didn’t let anybody touch and only played with indoors. I only have a few corgi opened wheel cars from when I was a kid.

I love these 55 gassers. My buddy changed the motor in this one painted the headers black, added real riders and detailed it.

Very nice. Hot Wheels nailed it with the 55 Chevy Gasser. I grab them when I see them. Their 65 Comet Gasser is just as nice.

I agree-the paint is very nice on that '55.

I know right? You see mine up there in the pics, that one was one of about 6 Matchboxes that got my attention the most and it shows!

Here is the Herb Thomas Hudson Hornet I was asked about. I was going to let this go but changed my mind after really looking it over. It went back upstairs. Not into Nascar anymore but this thing is to neat to sell. Had to take a couple models out to the garage though.herb thomas 015.jpg herb thomas 025.jpg herb thomas 020.jpg

This reminded me of my Dad's 1st car. He bought a '51 Hudson Pacemaker from Courtesy Motors in Chicago. They named these limited cars the "Baby Hornet". Dad had the twin-H motor like that in your pics. Courtesy Motors took a handful of Pacemakers and had that motor installed in a limited run of these.

I found these 2 about 5 years ago but could never find the other 2 that went with them. They are metal and look to be 1/24 scale or about. I picked them up for $15 each. I later found out there were 2 others in this set. A green 68 Camaro (Wally Booth) I believe. The other was the Sox and Martin Duster. If they dont break the bank Id like to find them. They were made by RSC.herb thomas 085.jpg herb thomas 086.jpg herb thomas 084.jpg

I just turned up several on Ebay of both cars I am looking for. I paid $15 a piece at Thompson in 2014.
The two I have are over $120 each now and the Two I'm looking for are about the same. Too rich for me. Id pay more maybe $40-50 but not that much. Damn.

I can keep an eye out for you if you really want them. one show I go to in spring sells the larger scale cars like this. I would let you know how much they are before I paid. I don't collect this size scale but those are beautiful.

I was looking at EBay last night at the 2 I am missing and was drooling. I spotting another one I didn't know about. The MiMi 68 Camaro. They are very nicely detailed. I was lucky to pick up the ones I did. Thompson Raceway had a small swap meet and the guy had them for $15 a piece. I was being cheap that day and could have picked up the other 2. Dumb.
