If you're speaking of tip-in, then I think you're right.
There are other issues with throttle though - inconsistency of response with variables such as speed etc and going dead over time (as already discussed).
I'm also in the DGAF about map switching camp, but octane learning has my attention.

 

ditch map switching, keep the octane learning if it can be done safely, and what is 6AT?

I don't really care *that* much about OLE, but to me it is more useful than map switching.

If it's holding things up unnecessarily I'm all for postponing both and making them a future feature update.

 

@OVTune I personally don't care at all about map switching and would actually prefer to not have it at all, or at least would like the ability to continue to flash just one map when 2.0 final drops, because I already know that I'll be flashing whatever you give for 91 octane FO and that will be that. Seems like a fair number of people here also do not care about map switching.

As for octane learning, it's cool. It's a neat trick. But again, I personally don't care about it. It's just a thing of minor convenience that I wont be taking advantage of and the main advantage for others is only that they don't have to pull out their laptop or handheld for a quick flash session (oh the horror...lol). If you include it, cool. If you don't, I won't care either.

@Shellshock is right. I think 1.03b was the only map with a bad throttle response. Too touchy. Everything else has been great.

I think it's just DFCO that remains to be focused on. Some people here will insist on rev hang being addressed but don't kill yourself over it. I'm going to be attacked for saying this again lol This is a truck, not a sports car. Nobody needs to be pretending otherwise. Rev hang in a manual truck is to be expected and isn't a big deal.

 

No disrespect, but I have never experienced anything like this rev hang in any other manual truck (or any other manual vehicle for that matter).

When I was in Turkey, I got to drive around a little Mazda B2300 or whatever it was, little 4 banger with a 5 speed, and it had some long rev hang. I didn't care. It's a truck, not a sports car. That's how I viewed it and how I view my Tacoma. I don't need to slam gears and rush shifts. Casual shifting means I don't run into the issues that would accompany rev hang, the rpms just fall in time, so that it isn't an issue for me.

I've had other manual vehicles that didn't have rev hang issues, but they were sporty vehicles, so the lack of rev hang was also to be expected.

I get it. People want the death of rev hang like @Shellshock said. I just fail to identify with that crowd because I don't need it. Lol

 

I guess everybody has their own driving style and preferences, which is probably why we buy manual trans in the first place. So I get it. To each their own.

It’s definitely not an every day problem but I’ve had plenty of instances where you need to move quick in traffic and 1 to 2 is painful. Most of the time it’s not an issue but it’s an issue lol
