Just picked up a hard shell that I need to get color matched. Any recommendations on reputable painters in Santa Barbara area preferably?

Any certified I-car shop should have a good painter that can match color and lay it out a nice job. I’m a painter if I was closer I’d hook you up. Good luck

End up getting rid of the soft topper?

Try Precision Auto Body in Goleta.

Don't be surprised if it's going to cost $1500 or so

It's gonna look rad once its painted! Which one did you end up going with? Interested in what you get quoted to spray it.

I love the taillights, I'm thinking about getting the same ones, just in the clear black.

I'd definitely be surprised. I've been searching the forums and people usually got quotes from $300 - 600

Im excited for it as well! I got the Snugtop GB Sport. I hope I get a low quote, not looking to spend more than $500 honestly.

Dammit. I would've traded you a paint job for that softopper + paint supplies.

I don't even think $300 pays for the materials, but I could be wrong.

I recently got a price to spray three loose body panels for a GTi and it was $1500 to spray one fender, a hood and a bumper cover. It was a two stage paint PPG

Paint/body work has gotten pricier lately. There was a time when you could go to Earl Shibe and get a full scuff and spray for $200. If you had dings or nicks they showed through, but it was all fresh paint. I was feeling lazy and got a quote to paint a motorcycle fender from a local body shop. $200 for just a fender in a solid color! I ended up doing it myself, and am much happier with the results knowing I only have about $50 in materials. The key that separates a good paint job from an eye sore is the prep and follow through. I spent the better part of 3 days metal working the fender and sanding down filler. About 30 minutes to spray the thing. Then spent another full day buffing it out. The materials were minimal compared to the labor involved.

All good Ray. It was a pleasure to meet you and to get to work with you as it is.

I've had a few guys come in for a thrash before they move out of town. One truck is in Florida and the other is in Texas.

    :fistbump:
