Yeah I know, I fluid film mostly to get the areas that dont get sprayed out with the pressue washer or dry fast. My frame is is clean and dry 99% of the time in the winter.

So why not try to make it last longer? If my truck has a good engine and non-ripped seats, but has a broken frame due to rust, I have to get a new truck. But, if I spent some time each year preventing rust, then the truck as a whole will last longer.

Just because something is inevitable, doesnt mean you give up on it.

You shouldn't have to. I've seen trucks that are 40 years old with better frames than 10 year old Toyotas. It shouldn't be the consumers job to make sure their frame doesn't fall apart. This isn't a wear and tear item were talking about.

Your right, we shouldnt have to... but we do, so we shouldnt neglect it because it will happen eventually.

Don’t worry, it’s not a Jeep Wrangler. I’ve seen brand new Wranglers with rust underneath. Mine was very visible after one year, glad I dumped that POS quickly.

Long story short, i got this undercoating done and it looked like shit, after a long fight they involved the regional manager to redo it for me. He was there personally at the shop, making sure it got done right.

He told me he was involved with toyota campaign, regarding the frame recalls and we had quite a good convo. He told me 18s and up have this waxy type shit on the inside of the frame and they installed these plastic covers around the frame rails by the engine bay. He showed me everything, i saw what he was explaining me.

Thats why toyota only issuing recalls for 16-17 . You could always shoot an email to corporate if you do not believe me.

I will correct myself this 2017 has a Limited Service Campaign [KOD] 2011 thru 2017 first found out though car fax, dealer doing work on their own ( for what that's worth).Under carriage looks real good as the rest of truck, big dealer in Madison Wi, gave me 3500$ trade in on a 1999 Limited 4Runner with 187k on it, 4Runner was very clean with GOOD frame, this is a turned in leased truck, feel better about purchasing this after posting on this forum. Thanks So Much

The brine and salt used on roads today is so corrosive. If you spend some time and money washing the undercarriage after snow days most frames should avoid significant rusting through the life of the truck. Much better to spend $ on car washes in the winter instead of summer IMO. I live in CT and have adopted this practice. My frame does not have any rust after 2 winters and is w/o undercoating.

Service campaign, many 2017 models are not affected. It's just a quick inspection.

I did that on my 2018. Everything is looking good after two winders in the salt belt. I just wish it didn't stink so much. (I accidentally got some on the exhaust)

I spray mine all over the underside and usually accidentally get the exhaust. It tends to go away after a day or so. I think of the smell as the smell of a clean frame lol

Woolwax is essentially the same thing at Fluid Film

Right...but it doesn't stink like FF. Sprays on thicker too. Doesnt drip like FF can.
