OP, you sound like you just get bored easily with your vehicles once the newness wears off. You only have the truck for only 11 mos and your listed replacements vehicles are all over the place for their purpose(Lexus is/gs 350, Subaru outback 3.6 or forester xt, dodge charger, honda civic si manual, honda accord v6 manual, and maybe a wrx ??). Buying another $20-30k vehicle while still owing $13k on yours would be a financial disaster. Pay if off first then decide what you want to do next.

Yeah, l don't think I've ever seen someone wanting to sell their vehicle, but having no idea what they wanted to buy in it's place. The vehicles listed are definitely all over the map.

P0430 is a catalyst below threshold code - it a problem reported by a sensor in the exhaust system. Debates go on for pages and pages on this site as to what to do about it.

It could be a leak somewhere in the exhaust, bad O2 sensor(s), bad catalyic converter(s), etc.

Looks like I'm going to keep it for now guys. Should I switch the oil from full synthetic to regular every 3000 miles to make it last longer? Or will that not make a difference?

Why do you want to switch from full synthetic to regular oil? Full synthetic technically has better specifucations. But that's a whole separate topic that can be talked about forever.

The important thing is buying an oil that meets the engines requirements, and then changing it regularly.

There's plenty of debate when an oil thread comes up but personally, as long as you stick with changing it every 3k miles, oil type doesn't matter. As for the code, likely an O2 sensor if you don't feel any drivability issues. Stick with Denso sensors and Rock Auto is a good site to buy them from. You should also check for exhaust leaks along with the wiring to the O2 sensors. I would clear the code to see if it comes back.

Had a 4Runner...used it too much like a pickup...firewood, mulch bags, gas cans, wet dog, wet camping gear that smells like a wet campfire. In an SUV....it’s all enclosed with you in the cabin.

get a new Tacoma and a cap for the bed.

The GX 460 (or previous GX 470) is actually the Land Cruiser Prado across the pond

I'm still driving my 06 320+ kmiles now. Granted, the head gasket popped at around 235k. A lil over $5k and I had a used motor put in. This happened shortly after the frame was replaced.

What's cheaper; or maintanence or a truck payment?

I love this truck and if I were in your position, knowing the early 2nd gens had head gasket issues, is replace the head gaskets with those from 2007+ and drive it a million miles.
But that's just me and I'm weird like that.

I'm really thinking about selling it and getting a newer Trd Tacoma with a manual. I miss the 5 speed I had in my Mazda 3 before this.

l look at it this way. For me to break even on a new vehicle payment over repairs and maintenance. I figure I'd have to spend at least $600 a month. Probably more!

So that's at least $7,200 bucks a year. For 5 years or maybe 6. Unless you have a good trade in or a decent down payment. Many do not.

But if you did. You'd probably still have a 15,000 to $20,000 dollar loan. Financed for about 3 or 4 years.

To me that's a lot of maintenence and repairs. Plus whatever l fixed, would now be good for many many years to go.

I know a vehicle purchase is an emotional one as well as a financial one. But I'd rather do without a vehicle payment. They have the potential to go on for our whole lives for some reason.

    That's my thoughts anyway
