Most of the problems on newer stuff is from them trying to make things unnecessarily complicated or meet EPA requirements

You know what's awesome? Remote start...... LoL The app kind of sucks, but it's better than no remote start or having to buy one.

Yeah. The latest thing is the stupid fucking particulate filters. Already on the diesels and coming to gas engines. They are already required in Europe.

    Optional on the new taco?
Factory option? Or dealer add-on option?

Those are being mandated here too? I didn't see that yet. Part of that CAFE standards thing?

If you get the tech package/upgraded media system you get an app with free service for a year.

It’s like your truck starts without you in it. If you have the heat turned up and you wait long enough, it’s like getting into a warm truck

CAFE or EPA not sure which, but its coming.

It runs for up to 10 minutes and then shuts off. Also shuts off when you unlock the door to get in, which I don't like. But it's better than not having it. When I know it's going to be real cold I just set my heat warmer to the warmest setting and at the very least my seat is always nice and toasty when I get in. But its also usually just warm enough to start pumping out warm air as well. Even yesterday when it was nearing single digits after work. This morning it was in the garage when I started it so that's kind of cheating. LoL Even though I don't leave the heat on 24/7 (detached) it stays above freezing in there most of the time. Today wasn't an exception. It was like 34* according to the truck even though its -8* outside.

Oh I see. All Tacos are wired for it, you buy the ability to use it basically, but it's already there.
Can you add a remote start that doesn't use wifi? Just a remote like the normal/original ones.
Dude..... That's crazy. Is this part of why they were having all those brand new tacos stolen???

Or if you have climate control it will be the temperature you set. So you don't have to remember to make sure the heat is on or the A/C is on in the summer. It just always aims for 69* in my truck. LoL

I think the stolen trucks was from being able to program keys to the truck.

Not sure I haven't researched the stolen stuff. I do know there are some new hacking tools out there that make it real easy to steal anything with keyless entry/start. They are expensive and pretty well tracked, but even so some people manage to get their hands on them.

You can add aftermarket remote start I'm sure. But I'm not sure why you'd want to. I think the service is pretty cheap and it also tracks the last location your truck was parked. So if it gets stolen you can track it if the thieves aren't smart enough to disable the system.

Does the remote start not use wifi then? Will it work without the truck being in range of wifi?

they are using techstream to reprogram the immobilizer for the new key they create. Basically using the same process the dealer does to create keys

honestly if someone is gonna go through that much effort to steal my truck, have at it. I’ve got insurance.
