I have none... I will get some videos when I'm not covered in wires and a laptop tho haha... It was a Volkswagen buggy he swapped a non turbo 2.5 subbi into and then strapped an eBay t3/t4 hybrid to... It weighs ~1900 lbs with him in it and that thing scoots when boost hits... Just needs a touch more fuel...

i told him he could probably get by spraying meth since he is just gonna run ~5-6 psi and hold a strong 13:1 but since the wrx injectors are the same brand and 40% bigger it will be an easy swap and he ordered them from rockauto last night so they should be here soon

 

So that means a TiAL, Turbosmart, GFB, Precision, etc... W/G?

 

I think he said he had a TS on the way... That Volkswagen tranny ain't gonna hold up long on ~4-5x stock power haha

 

Gotta be careful- in today's politically correct world, you can't even say "Shit, I blew a tranny" anymore!

There have been a few to do it. One recently from the V6 to LS. Cannot remember the thread though. Don't be fooled, as it is a lot of time, effort, and money. The money and time are the most relative ingredients of that concoction. You also have to factor in wiring and tuning.

You have two current choices. Install the s/c kit and enjoy while saving money and learning as much as you can for the swap, or sell the kit if you can, and do the same. One will be more fun while waiting.

P.S. sell the kit and install a turbo.

 

For 4x4 first gens it's difficult to fit the driver exhaust between the transmission, steering post and differential. I'm not chasing huge numbers. You would likely need an entirely different drivetrain to handle that as well. Just depends how far down the bottomless rabbit hole you want to go I guess.

 

There are turbo manifolds and down pipes for the 2tr which would be the hard part of fabrication... The IC piping can be put together with couplers and if you have a saw that's no big deal... Tuning though...

 

We are in an age where knowledge is at the tip of your fingertips. If you have the time you can learn how to do anything. I knew nothing about turbos a little over a year ago. I bought someone else's used kit and went from there. I have not began tuning yet as I still need to do somethings before I can safely turn up the boost. There are kits for the 2tr to start off of. You'll likely want to change things here and there as you become more knowledgeable.

 

Also would I be nuts to throw on the bigger t3/t4 my buddy just took off his buggy to see how fast it spools with 1.5 more liters of engine? I mean eBay and stuff but he did the dangerous break in stuff on it already...

 

I am in no way saying not to. Plenty of room. Rear end will easily handle it.

Just want you to do your thorough research prior. As the less you specifically do, the higher the cost. I am always an advocate for forging through a challenge.

 

But how do you feel about Alibaba?...
