Can you buy a GM truck on a GM Credit card? I've never heard of that.

I [technically] have 4 cards, but one I mentioned I just charge netflix too for credit history.

3 have no fees and 1 has a fee. I would not have more than 2 with fees and I only have one because it is a large fee and I get enough from the others. When combined my cards get.

5% on Amazon and whole foods
    3% on dining and travel
    2% on gas
    1.5% on everything else

I don't think you use the credit card for the vehicle purchase, it's cash earnings that go toward a purchase. I almost used it in 2008/2009 when they had all those gov't incentives to buy a new vehicle to bail out GM, Ford, Chrysler. But I didn't like the vehicles/prices at the time and used the other money I had saved up to put in new high efficiency heating and AC which included the fed/state gov't incentives.

On a side note, I was just looking at my social security statement and comparing the rate of retiring at 62 vs retiring at 67 or 70 and the break even would by at age 79 for retiring at 67 and 80 for retiring at 70. There's more to it than that, you have to consider taxes on SS based on age, but it will take more time to figure that out. I never planned on SS being there so anything I could get would be a bonus.

Anyone have thoughts on Kraft Heinz (KHC) at this level?

Earnings were bad (again) but looking long term it could be a deal at $27. Plus it pays almost a 6% dividend..

I like it, but haven't bought it because I am already way overweight in Consumer Staples. I would look into it if I was able to start another position in that sector. The dividend is good, but with no growth, the share price won't grow and neither will the dividend. This is a company that will probably exist in 50+ years, so slowly accumulating and receiving dividends might not be a bad strategy.

Their price has been struggling for a while, but the dividend is nice. I don't know enough about them, but you've got me looking into it. I will say that the drop due to earnings looks like an overreaction in the market and will likely correct itself slightly.

On second thought on KHC, this is concerning, their dividend growth. You can do so much better if you start with the list of Dividend Aristocrats (25+ years of dividend increases) and picks stocks you like from there. This is actually pretty concerning with this company:

If I was looking at it purely as a dividend play (which I know you do) I am sure there much better options. I also love my dividends but with a lot of stocks at record highs, I also am looking for deals.

Since May 2017 this stock has moved from a record high of $92.73 to $28.. The company was run poorly for many years now. The million dollar question is can this CEO turn it around???

Could be a lot of reward (with a lot of risk of course). That yield would drop back to the normal 2-3% if the stock went up. Getting in now may be a very good play. I am actually going to have to look into it more.

It all would depend on your age and how much risk you are willing to tolerate..

If they don't cut their dividend, you can buy into an awesome yield. Probably some capital gains too if you're patient.

My spending behaviors change with a CC. So the points end up not being worth it.
I’ve never had a dime of CC debt in my life but my behaviors change with the card.

You know those companies don’t make offers that loose them money. 99% of people get fucked in the end. So always proceed with caution.

I do have a cash back rewards debit card with no fees. Thats nice.

I could see it getting out of control quick. The way I do it is I use a few checking accounts where I put the money I would have spent with my debit card. It's exactly the same thing that would have happened with a debit card. I also pay the credit card after every purchase (takes less than a minute on the B of A app). You do have to have some discipline to make this work.

Thats what I would have to do is clear purchases daily.
To me its too tempting to spend next months money on a cc because I can float the charge for up to 60 days on the cc.

Like I said never been in cc debt, always responsible and stay in budget (even if its next months budget). Only debt is my first house and that will be paid off in about 3 years after date of initial purchase. So its not like I’m foolish with it or anything, I just do better with pure debit.
I used cc’s up until last year for points, then I stopped to do an experiment and my behaviors changed. Plus its not like I really racked up any life changing points lol. I’m not gonna retire early off cc points. LOL

I put my property taxes on it and thats about all.
